Any FireRed roms with Hoenn maps out there?

    Hi,

I am developing my first rom hack in Hoenn, and I want to make the game in FireRed.
I don't need all the functions of Emerald and I want to get help easily and quickly when I'm stuck and for what I've read FireRed would be the best choice for me.

So my question is, since I am too lazy and under-experienced to do it myself, are there any FireRed hacks with all Hoenn maps, potentially replacing all Kanto maps?

    Thank you in advance.

This is so easy, even a toddler could do it. First things first, grab a ruby/sapphire/emerald rom, open it up in advance map, and then select the map you want to "port" over to FireRed (E.G. Petalburg City). Once it is loaded, click on the settings toolbar and turn on the Grid. After, click on tools and then save map picture. Save it, keep the emerald rom open, and then open up your fire red rom in a separate amap. Load it up to the map you are replacing and then open up the map you saved in paint, and then "copy" the map using the fire red equivalent to the RSE tileset. Make sure the Width and Height are the same as the map you are "porting". It's a whole heck of a lot easier to port a map from another gen 3 game than it is to port a map from a gen 4 game (which I did, and posted about. Going to edit that to include my most recent map)

Well I could do that, but it would mean porting hundreds of maps and I don't really want to do that. As I said, I'm lazy.

You haven't really got very many alternatives, to be honest. Is the fact that there are more ASM routines and such available for FR the only reason you're choosing it? There are just as many EM hackers as FR who would be able to help you out if you got stuck =) from the sounds of it you're probably better off just using Emerald if you don't want to do any mapping.

I think so, yes. In that case I'd better start working. Any better free editors for .DIB available than MS Paint? :t235:

Have you made any progress on this project? I was interested in the same thing, and just found a slightly easier way to go about it. Don't want to go through it all if I don't have to, but if you're still looking for Hoenn in FireRed, I'll get working and keep ya posted!

Hello, i really interested if you can make hoenn map on Fire Red.
hopefully it will be binary romhack, not decomp

My approach so far has been as a binary hack, but in the last 24 hours I've had significant issues porting over some of the bvd block files, and even if every map was importing as I'd like, it would still take a good bit of time to do some corrections on each. Might need to consider a decomp approach
