Any Way To Tell If A Friend Is Online?

You can go to your profile and on your friends list there should be a green light thing.
If you see the green light that means they're online or go to the index and down at the bottom of the forum index it shows a list of members online.

No Sorry , I meant in game. Any way to tell if there online for a battle/trade?
When you connect to Wi-Fi on the downstairs level of a pokemon center, any of your friends who are online should appear when you enter the Wi-Fi room, provided you have their friend code.
