Pocket Monsters was the very first true Pokemon Manga Ever made.

It is a Japan-only Manga Series about Akai "Red" Isamu and his crazy Misadventures centered around his Pippi(Clefairy). There have been three Series so far:

    -Pocket Monsters (Kanto and Johto)
    -Pocket Monsters RS (Hoenn)
    -Pocket Monsters DP (Sinnoh)

Pocket Monsters was directly referenced to in the Anime in Episode AG 86"The Movie Rides on Bakuuda" ("Lights, Camerupt, Action"), in the form of a short film.

I personally own Volume 5, and even with only knowing a little Japanese, I have to say it's quite hillarious.

Also, as a note not stated on any sites, Anakubo Kousaku(The Creator) often has his cat drawn into various scenes

This page has a photo of him, his daughter, and the cat mentioned above:

I have Volume 1 in japanese and it´s too funny to see his gags and Pippi´s battles

I would love to read that manga. But I doubt I would understand the cultural references though...=/

Isn't it more commonly know as Pokemon Zensho?

No, that's a different manga. Also, I think that in the Pokemon anime, they show a short skit of the Pocket Monsters manga.

It's released in Taiwan and Singapore as well.

While I do read all the series, I don't like the crude humour being used in that manga, even if I can understand some of the cultural references.

Too bad the crude humour in that series has yet to surpass Crayon Shin-chan.
