Anyone find it odd that Giovanni doesn't have Meowth at his side?

    Something I have been curious about. Meowth has the ability to communicate with any pokemon, don't you think that would be invaluable to Giovanni? Meowth could interpret what other pokemon say for him and you'd think seeing as few other pokemon can communicate both in human and poke language he'd want to have him around as a valuable asset.

    Maybe, or maybe it would be dangerous, because Meowth could warn other Pokemon of his plans, or even warn other trainers.

    Sounds risky.

    Well honestly, if you take a look at the episode titled "Training Daze!" when Giovanni first met Meowth, he just thought he was the most annoying thing ever, and threw him off to work with Jessie and James. xD;

    I think after 5 Sagas he would have done something like that by now. He seems too loyal to Team Rocket to do something that would go against them. Even if he is treated like crap he is still dedicated to them.

    As for the topic at hand I really don't know how much benefit it would be, unless he used Meowth to convince pokemon to join Team Rocket. Then again Giovanni could probably just as easily employ a capture squad and avoid the talk. It would be interesting to see Meowth used in a different fashion like that, but I don't think that is very likely. Especially if they continue the route they are going and minimizing Team Rockets appearances.

    Actually he did do something like that: In Mewtwo Returns, he went against his boss after Giovanni captured Mewtwo with the implied intent of killing it.

    But Giovanni and his people (excluding the trio) had gotten their memories wiped around the end of Mewtwo Returns! Surely he would have forgotten.

    ^ This.

    Awww, Meowth, I love him. I kinda wish he would be next to Giovanni instead of that stupid Persian. Meowth is so dedicated to Team Rocket. I thought for sure he would somehow win over Giovanni eventually, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess that'll never happen. Poor Meowth, but I do like him with Jesse and James. I don't think their team would be complete without them. They've been through so many episodes together now, that they are almost like family! :D

    I have actually thought about that before, but a few things came to mind...
    Meowth's loyalties almost never stick to just one person. He will get angry with Jessie or James and leave them hanging the moment they fall into a rut, or he'll fall in love and forget about his original plans. He obviously went ahead and did the unimaginable for Meowzy, (for his breed, I suppose) so it's a bit obvious that he would probably backfire if Giovanni wasn't always on his toes with him. Meowth can also be a bit of a dim-wit. So he will go for something with his own ideas in head. And Meowth tends to have more of a heart than Giovanni does. Meowth feels sorry for outcasts and struggling Pokemon, Giovanni could care less.

    I think their personalities would be a major fail factor.

    He is? I would recommend watching the series farther before making concrete statements like that.

    I didn't even think about a topic like this until after looking at this thread. Now thinking outside of the box, I think that Giovanni doesn't want Meowth by its side is because since it has the ability to communicate just like a human, Meowth could probably annoy the living crap out of Giovanni and Giovanni would be able to understand what Meowth is saying. I can actually see Meowth telling Giovanni what he is doing wrong all the time which would make Giovanni throw him out the window or his office.
