yeah this place does suck. ho-oh is wrong because if you update from open edition to a regular psp firmware you'll brick the psp. i wonder if he even tried it or even has a psp

Yeah, pretty much am doing this for the lulz...
And you can upgrade from OE firmware and not brick.
It's just stupid because it's an extra unneeded step.
And stupid because ANY time you downgrade your risk bricking.
Any time you write to flash you chance bricking really..
If something goes wrong with official updates you can brick.

* I think the upgrade problem was only with 3.40OE, but has been repaired.
I believe it was due to some parts of whatever firmware you downgraded from still being left on flash0, which has been fixed since the 3.40OE updater cleans flash0 of those pesky files.
(I think)
I do know that you can upgrade from OE firmware to official though.
