    what is the best item/moveset for this mixed arcanine

    Why would you wanna combine Atk and S.atk in his movesets? His Atk moves are pretty good. Well at least if you gonna use both Atk and S.atk, then make sure to balance the EV's and not leave S.atk with only 4 EV. Also, the Adamant nature isn't going to work that well if you intend on using its S.atk.

    Not sure about this, since his defences aren't high enough to risk a miss on Fire Blast.

    Try this for an Atk set:
    Flare Blitz
    Extremespeed
    Crunch / Thunder Fang
    Roar

    Personally I wouldn't go with a S.atk set combination just for Dragon Pulse.

    NO WAIZ. my own Arcanine runs Flamethrower + Dragon Pulse seeing as that they cover plenty of types. Flamethrower/Dragon Pulse/Extremespeed/Substitute work extraordinarily well on Arcanine. the strategy is basically setting up a sub right as he enters into battle and attacking whatever switches in. with that moveset, arcanine's only threat is Heatran.
     
    i want flamethrower > fire blast cause arcanine gets STAB and skarm/steels have high def so fire fang/flare blitz wont work well.
     
    Actually fire blast misses less than you guys are leading him to believe. After all, It does have 85% accuracy.
     
    Trust me, we speak from experience. There's nothing worst than losing a match cause your Fire Blast missed. It doesen't miss enough to be unuseable, not by no means, but it's risky.
     
    yeah. beleive it or not, but complete battles can be lost from one simple 95% accuracy Ice Fang missing, or a Rock Slide missing for that matter. it happens, and when it does, it definitely HURTS.
     
    Yeah but the good thing about rock slide and this happened to me quite a few times, is the opponent flinching ends the battle, for example, I was against a salamence and it was a tad faster than me and it used rock slide I flinched and that was the end of my salamence.
     
    well yeah, that's definitely a good thing. between rock slide and stone edge, there's not much of an option for better rock type moves.

    Here's the thing I realized. I had to choose between Rock Slide or Stone Edge. I choose Rock Slide for more PP, greater accuracy, and chance to flinch. Unfortunatley I also loss power & high critical hits.
     
    I think rock blast is also good to have on hand so that if you are against a ninjask, you can still kill them when they have a substitute.

    I can't agree. In fact,I absolutly hate Rock Blast. Not only did it miss a few too many times, but then I have to hope that I hit more than twice. Too unreliable.
     
    You didn't listen to what I said, against a ninjask with substitute, If you have anything else that can't get through it then prepare for a fully sped up, metagross or tyrannitar.
     
    Oh I heard. It failed me there, too. It hurt bad, that speedy, sub-protected Metagross.
     
    which is why on the first tur he subs you use rock blast and it hits, and it hits again, and.... oh wait its already taken out, hum what a surprise.
     
    I see what you are saying. I just can't get it to work.
     
    The main reason I say it is because I was on netbattle and I was setting up for a tyrannitar and was using double team with a substituted ninjask and the next thing I know they switch to armaldo so I'm thinking who cares, well that thing use rock blast and all the hard work I had done was gone.
