In this challenge you must complete the game using only one type of Pokémon.
You begin a new game. You choose your type and complete the eight gyms and the Pokémon League using that type alone.
After that (or during that) you must catch every Pokémon of that type obtainable in that game.

If you see any mistakes, please inform me.

    RULES
    - This is a Red/Blue only challenge.
    - You can only choose one type of Pokémon.
    - Secondary types are allowed.
    - Due to the lack in numbers you cannot choose Grass, Rock, Fighting, Ice, Ghost or Dragon Pokémon. However, most of these have secondary types and they can also be used as HM Slaves. You cannot choose Electric in Blue and you cannot choose Fire in Red.
    - HM Slaves are allowed. 5 maximum. (Not allowed to participate in any battles.)
    - Some Pokémon will be optional.
    - Screenshot would be nice, but aren't necessary.
    - If you are choosing a type such as Psychic which is only available after the first gym, please select Charmander as your starter to make things more difficult.
    - You must have your chosen type before you defeat Misty.
    - If your starter is not the type you are using, release it once you get the Pokémon type you are using. (Unless you are using it as a HM Slave.)
    - This isn't a race. Take your time.
    - No glitches or cheating is allowed.
    - More than one person can select the same type.
    - By every Pokémon, I don't mean a Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard. You just need to have had them all at some stage.
    - You must have at least six Pokémon of the same type.
    - Emulators are allowed.

Uhh.. Aren't there enough grass Pokemon in the first gen. to use?
I mean, as a starter, you can choose Bulbasaur.
And then there's always Oddish and Bellsprout.
As for a secondary type, there's Paras.
    That's already 4. :\
Is there like, a rule that says you can't have two of the same Pokemon in your party of 6?

if you can use 2nd dairy types home come we can't use Grass type Pokemon?

    :t354:TG
You can use them if they fit in with your type from their secondary type. For example, you can use Bulbasaur as a Poison type. But there really isn't enough Grass types.

Well, it's not just that. Part of the challenge is to collect every Pokemon that is the type you choose. Collecting five Pokemon isn't much of a challenge, especially when you're given one. Bulbasaur, Bellsprout and Oddish all come under Poison anyway.

    I hope people understand.

There appears to be the same number of Pokemon (fully evolved anyway) for both grass and rock, yet rock is acceptable? You are given more rock then you are grass as well.

That factor aside, I may do this. With four hours of soccer practice each morning though, I may not.

If I do in fact do this, I will take flying
    .
I will do it, it just won't be very quickly.

Because Victreebel and Vileplume are version-exclusives, it's only possible to have five grass-types in one playthrough: Venusaur/Victreebel OR Vileplume/Parasect/Exeggutor/Tangela

It's the same case with Rock because you can't have both Kabutops and Omastar.

He seems to want to increase the challenge by making it so that you have to have at least a full team of six.

I won't be doing this challenge. I just recently did a similar challenge in Red using poison-types, and I don't feel like doing that again anytime soon. :P

I realized that, but with rock you won't have a full team either, so I was wondering why it is accepted.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll fix that now. I'll add your name to the list too.

Thanks for that. Well that's cool, I guess.

    I'll change it now.

Pokemon didn't have secondary types in the first generation and Ice wasn't introduced until the second generation.
I don't know what version you play but in my games, you are wrong in both cases.

Pokemon didn't have secondary types in the first generation and Ice wasn't introduced until the second generation.

lets take the first couple of Pokemon for an example

    Bulbsaur- Grass/Poison
    Ivysaur- Grass/Poison
    Venusaur- Grass/Poison
    Charizard- Fire/Flying
    Weedle- Bug/Poison
    Kakuna- Bug/Poison
    Beedrill- Bug/Poison

all from first generation and ice type Pokemon

    ummm
    Cloyster- Water/Ice
    Lapras- Water/Ice
    Ugly- Ice/Psychic
    Articuno- Ice/Rock

your getting confused with Dark and Steel types

Okay, first of all, what kind of Pokemon is "Ugly"?
And, second of all, I thought Articuno was Ice/Flying....

Uhhhh...considering the types, I believe "ugly" would be Jynx.

I'm playing Red. I know no Charmander in Red, but it's an HM slave.
