Art is... Gimp... Again??

That´s right everybody, I´m back!!! (Back again... shady´s back... tell a friend... lol)
For those who don´t know me: I´m a guy who is playing around with the program Gimp. Yeah, that´s all you need to know^^

I´ll show my pieces here, and hope for some crits and comments.
The work is from old to new.

^All of these above were only made with the brush tool and blur efect. (That´s why I´m so proud of them^^)

An edited pic of Samus Aran, that I found on the net. All I did was recoloring, and make effects. It´s nothing special, because I just made it to be less bored^^.

Most of this was made with the X-shaped brush (Yes, Flareon too).

As you may see, I love the Brush and Blur effects^^

A little story to the drawings:
I wanted to draw a rainy sky. So I did:

After I finished it, I felt like there´s something missing.
I didn´t have to think long, it right came into my mind: A Phoenix!
I made the phoenix, but it looked so... lonely... (I have no better word for it)
So I decided to make a scene which all of you should recognise. (but notice that it´s just a Phoenix, nothing else)

Although this scene isn´t sad at all, it made me so.
While I drew it, I listened to Evanessence (My Immortal), and honestly, I almost started to cry. I don´t care how that sounds, my eyes were wet. And after finishing the pic, my hands started shaking. I was so damn sad, and I couldn´t even say why.

And heres the picture that made me this sad:

UPDATE:
I tryed a (for me) new way of shading: No blur, just colour. (you´ll see what I mean^^)

First is a Squirtle. I just sat there and thought; Why not draw a Squirtle? (Honestly^^)


Second one: Togepi.
History: I chatted with Linkandzelda, and showed him Shiggy. He seemed to like it, so I thought; Why not draw him a Pokémon?
I asked for his favorite Pokémon, and so he said; PIKACHU!!! -.-
The worst answer he could give, because I HATE Pikachu.
I asked for his second best, and it was TOGEPI!!!^^ (I like Togepi^^)

EDIT: Damn, I just saw it was the wrong pic, it was the old one.
In this there are a few mistakes, that I corrected. I´ll upload the right one tomorrow

The trunk of the palm tree is too thick and the leaves aren't long enough. Both the grass and the ocean seem like they're too elevated.



I can't offer too much on this as I'm not familiar with this character. However, I can say that you overused to blur effect.



I'm not a big fan of how the grass and sky look in this picture. They just seem too overlapping. Like the X brush was just too much. The sun looks brilliant, though.


I gotta say, this is amazing. The fire looks wonderful thanks to the X brush and the dragon looks very sinister. However, the wings should have more depth to them. The inside color should be a lighter green than the rest because of the thin membrane on a dragon's wing (much like a bat).


The plane (I think it is) in the background kind of looks like a bird pooping. XD However, the other plane looks fine to me. As for the war landscape, it's really hard to see. This is probably because you weren't planning on that at first.


Those two trees seem out-of-place. Either that, or they just need to be bigger and more vibrant. The leaves in the trees should come further out so it looks less like a lollipop and more like a tree.


From what I can see of Suicune, I noticed you forgot those two ribbon-like, white appendages that come from Suicune's back.


It's really quite hard for me to see it as most of the lines are blurry. .

1. In the first pic, what do you mean with elevated? I only know the word elevator, so I thought you meant it´s too high?

I really like the last one even though I don't know what it is but still looks nice. A Spongebob theme one, nice. You did a good job with Patrick Blasting off although I think you should of made the grouchy Squidward blast off.

I've personally never tried doing anything like digital paintings, but now I'm kinda interested. I may have to do one when I buy my digital tablet.
