As Darkness Falls- The Call of the Old Chateau

Amelia listened to the voice and dropped onto her back, laying sprawled across the floor. Maybe the voice would leave her alone if she ignored it. The countless rooms and hallways were getting very tedious, and Amelia was tired. Tired and hungry. She sat up again, realizing she hadn't even brought food. Come on, everybody was supposed to bring food. At least a sandwich. Maybe even Leah had one in her imaginary home with the imaginary kitchen, which fed the imaginary family. Even imaginary sandwiches would do.

Then again, Amelia didn't think they would be here in the Old Chateau for all that long. This was supposed to be a quick expedition where they proved the Old Chateau wasn't haunted, but just a boring old building. This was not true, of course, as they had encountered more supernatural things in a day than the Ghostbusters did in a week. Or not, but it was still obviously haunted here. Amelia remembered reading in the news about an old ghost house that was occupied by a bunch of children. They could be heard giggling, running, and sometimes crying. They were unaware of being dead, and they enjoyed each others presence. They lived in the house all alone, confused but happy with their peers. The ghosts in here were not. Not with the explorers, anyway.

The ghosts here could be bonded like family and be setting up a plot to kill everybody, for all Amelia knew. She stood up, and just as she was about to return to the hallway, something had caught her eye. Dim light from the hall revealed two windows in this dark room, both rammed shut with wooden planks. Windows are set in rooms to spice them up, but they are plain and boring, except when you can see what's outside, or when you can't. When you can see outside this plain invention, you can enjoy a nice view of the city while you enjoy your nice cup of tea, or maybe even the ocean if you're the fun, outdoorsy type. Unless you never go outside, then that's a waste of a location. When you can't see out the window, it's just that much more enticing to try and see what your nice view is, whether you have tea or not.

Amelia wanted to open one and try to climb out, or at least see where she was, maybe find her magnificent view of the Eterna Forest. But she needed tea. Maluu skittered over to the windowsill, reading Amelia's thoughts, and hopped on it. She tilted her head at the window, possibly sensing the temperature or something occurring beyond, using her fine purple hair. Maluu missed Lucifer already, even though the minutes they had been separated were short ones. She flicked her tail and looked up at Amelia, then back to the wooden boards.

"Espeon," she said, and the wood on the window caught fire. The wood turned into ash, and the breeze from outside blew it away. The flames dissipated as if they were merely snowflakes. Amelia quietly went over to the window and stuck her head outside. Suddenly thinking the ghosts would see this as an opportunity to use the window as a guillotine and chop off Amelia's head, killing her instantly and ruining her and her Pokémons' lives, she withdrew her head. She held her purple bangs against her forehead in case they were cut off mid-escape, resulting in an awful haircut.

Amelia noticed outside the window was as dark as this room, but how was that possible? She tried tapping the darkness, thinking it was perhaps a mirror, but it was, in fact, an open window. Needless to say, a broken one. She turned and squinted out at the hallway. The clock ticked, ticked, ticked. It was probably a bit off, but it claimed it was nowhere near dusk.

"Maluu, burn the other one, too," Amelia said, voice shaking as she gestured to the other window. "Espeon." The wood on this window mimicked the other, and disappeared. Light shone in from the window. Amelia ran over to it, looked outside, and gasped. It was daytime in this window. Eterna Forest was bright as it ever had been on an afternoon. This couldn't be a solar eclipse! Or a lunar eclipse, Amelia didn't really know, as she often confused the two. She looked at the other window again, but it was still pitch black.

Amelia had no explanation for it, but all she wanted to do now was find Mark and Nick. The distracting, mysterious windows with the distracting, mysterious views could possibly be buying time for the spirits. Now that Amelia thought about it, the voice she had heard earlier shut its trap. Definitely fishy, and not in a good way like a fish sandwich would be at a time like this. Amelia picked up Maluu and hurried back into the hallway. Monty and Lucifer were seen running from the door they had been holding, as if no time had passed.

Amelia was back in the original hallway she was in before. The hallways were somehow switching. Amelia swore she was turning into a nutjob. She turned and looked around, examining the hall. It looks exactly the same, she thought, once again turning toward the held open door. It slammed shut, making Amelia wince. The only thing she could see now was that nobody was even attempting to run out of the room from Leah. Either they just disappeared, they already escaped, or both. Where were they?

((OOC: I originally wanted to wait for Whimsicott, but I just had to continue this thing, bahaha.))
