As Darkness Falls-Welcome to the Old Chateau

Helena preened Korbin a bit as he looked down the hallway, wanting to make sure it was safe to proceed. She combed out his hair with her claws and licked some of his wounds, though he shook his shoulder a little to get her to stop. It was commonly known that the saliva of certain species of Pokemon had healing properties, but her tongue felt odd on his skin and hurt the wounds. She got the message and quit, just in time to hear Graham approaching. She perked her ears up and squeaked, letting him know there was someone coming. Korbin glanced in the direction and realizing it was just Graham, relaxed somewhat. After his episode in the room he was feeling a bit paranoid.

"I'm fine," he insisted. "I don't want to touch them until I can sit down and assess it all. I'm not sure how deep they all are, and I don't want to bandage them yet. It could hinder my mobility, and right now I need to be able to move correctly. Anything could happen at any second."

At his questioning as to what had happened, he smiled wearily. "All you really want to know is women are crazy."

***

This was truly disconcerting. Leyla's voice alone was familiar, and he felt strangely at ease around her. As she continued to speak he hung on to her every word, as though they were the very essence of life. She went on to speak of a place called the Chateau. That was familiar, but not enough to really stir him. But Ignotus and Helena… He knew them. He knew them, and they had been an important part of his life before… something. But most important was Korbin. If Ignotus and Helena had rung a bell, Korbin set off an alarm. Whoever he was, Samrin felt a strong tie to him, a desire to return to him. His loyalty to this Korbin still tugged at him, even though he couldn't be sure who that was.

Sakura… He knew that name, too. It was familiar, though to a lesser extent than the others. It was driving him crazy, not knowing who these names belonged to. Obviously they were important. So why didn't he know?

"Enough!" the Shadow said suddenly. "You will cease your attempts to confuse my servant."

Samrin flattened his ears against his head, but said nothing. He'd never been anyone's 'servant' and he never was going to be. But he would have to play his cards right to get out of here. And he couldn't leave the girl here. From what he'd learned of the Shadow, she was in grave danger, and he wouldn't have that.

[If I may, I have a suggestion,] Samrin said strongly, yet with an air of false respect. [This girl causes the tall one to let his guard down. With him preoccupied I could easily steal his spirit and have it back here before anyone knew what had happened. And if she would not come back of her own accord I could take her spirit as well.]

The Shadow surveyed him cautiously, unsure whether it was a good idea to go with this. But he didn't yet have any idea that Samrin had begun to remember his past, and saw no harm in it.

"I will allow it," he said slowly. "But you must not fail me."

Samrin nodded and trotted over to Leyla. His eyes asked her to follow, whether she understood what he had said or not.

Leyla flinched when the Shadow spoke sharply to her, and she shut her mouth. She hunched her back as she sat, trying to seem smaller and less important than she already was.

Azleyla was appalled when she heard Samrin's plan, she glared at him as he approached her, his body language asking her to follow.

At first, she looked away, refusing to go. Then she remembered where she was, and what was happening. She did not want to be alone here with the Shadow, for one. And for two, it would probably be better this way.

Leyla could apologize to Korbin, and she could see him one last time before they both died. And she would probably have Samrin take her spirit as well. It would probably be better than if the Shadow took it.

She stood tenatively, and nodded her head once, agreeing to go with Samrin.

From the aura surrounding Leyla Samrin could see that not only had she understood him, but she thought he'd been telling the truth. He would need to fix that. However, for now the heavy feeling was good. The Shadow felt her grief and fear, which made it seem more like Samrin had been telling the truth. The good news was that Samrin was fairly certain that the Shadow was not omniscient; he couldn't see all of the Chateau at all times. So he beckoned and walked next to Leyla solemnly, like a prison guard.

As soon as they turned a corner Samrin broke into an enthusiastic trot, the gait that he had adopted in life. [Cool it, hon. I'm not going to feed you to that bastard. I needed to get you out of there, and the best way to do that would be to make him think I was using you. He wouldn't just let you leave, especially since I didn't do what he asked me before.] He paused and walked in silence for a few seconds, his thoughts somewhat chaotic. Since Leyla could understand him, there was a lot he could say. But nothing was more important than finding out who he was.

[This Korbin,] he said finally. [Tell me about him.] Not only was he curious about who Korbin was, but he was curious about where he fit in. It was highly important to him to understand, and for him to figure out who he was. If he could figure out what his tie to the tall one was, too, he could figure out how to save his soul.

Leyla walked out of the Shadow's lair with Samrin next to her. She felt like the prisoner she was as she walked out, until Samrin spoke to her in her mind.

She relaxed after Samrin assured her that he was going to help her, and smiled a bit. She picked up the pace when he did, and felt somewhat more free than she had been, like the Shadow sucked all of the mirth and happiness from her while she was in the room with him, and now it all came flooding back.

Leyla smiled with a mixture of meloncholy and affection when Samrin asked about Korbin. She looked down at her ghostly companion.

"Korbin, he was your master in life. The one you served as a friend and companion, helping him defeat his enemies in Pokemon battles. He's tall, dark, handsome, caring, sweet, loving... " she let her voice trail off, her words were reflecting too much of her affection for him. "Anyway, he trained you for a long time, I'm guessing. He must have been devastated when you... passed on."

Leyla almost tripped on a piece of wood that was sticking up from the floor, but managed to regain her balance and continue.

"He loved you so very much, Samrin. You weren't just his Pokemon, you were his friend and part of his family." Azleyla explained, and then took a deep breath. "Korbin is also the 'tall one' that you're supposed to kill."

It was good that Leyla believed that he was telling the truth. It wouldn't do to have her mistrusting him, believing that she was being led to her death. He needed her help right now. When she began to speak perked his ears up, obviously hanging on to her every word. From the way she spoke of Korbin it was fairly obvious to him that Leyla was his mate, or at least wanted to be. Apparently having spent so much time with Korbin himself, it only made sense that he was having strange flashbacks.

[I keep seeing things,] he admitted. [First I faintly saw a fight, and felt as though someone who cared for me was offering me encouragement. After that I saw… my capture? The tall one… Korbin… was coming closer to me while I hid in the grass. Then he set a Sneasel on me. I guess that probably would be my capture.]

Everything was happening so fast. Just an hour ago all he had known about himself was his name. Now he knew where he had come from, who he was, and who had cared for him. The only thing he didn't know was how he had died.

[Might you have any idea what happened to me?] he asked quietly, afraid of what the answer might be. In the distance he could see three faintly glowing auras, two of which were familiar. He stopped and gestured in the direction with his nose.

[Korbin is ahead. Are you ready?]

Leyla listened quietly to Samrin as he spoke of the flashbacks that he had been having. He told her of his capture, meeting Korbin and Helena, having Korbin caring for him, all that.

She felt sympathy for the ghostly Pokemon, he shouldn't of died. Maybe if Jackson hadn't kidnapped her, she could had helped save him. She would have had Jel put out some of the flames.

When Samrin asked how he died, Leyla flinched. She bit her lip and kept her eyes forward.

"I think you died in the fire, Samrin. The fire that Tommy started... " she said quietly, and she halted when she realized that Samrin had stopped.

When he said that that orbin was just up ahead, Leyla started to shake. She took several deep breaths.

"No." she answered his question of whether she was ready or not. "So let's go." And continued to walked down the hallway.

The news that he had likely died in a fire didn't really surprise Samrin, but it made his stomach clench uncomfortably. It made perfect sense when he thought about it. The mere thought of even the faintest spark caused him to experience a sudden, inexplicable jolt of terror. [I see,] he said quietly. [As hard as it is to hear, I want to know all the details. It's sick but I need to know.]

He stood in silence, watching Korbin for a moment. Once again he felt a tie to him, but he didn't know what to do about it. From what he had seen before, Korbin couldn't even see him. What was the point, then?

[Go ahead,] he urged Leyla. As it turned out, however, Leyla wouldn't have to approach him.

***

Korbin rolled his shoulder irritably. "Stop moving, Hel," he grumbled. "Your claws keep getting into the cuts."

Helena cooed in apology and nuzzled his neck. Her superior sight caught Leyla down the hall and she stiffened, her back feathers going up. Though she wasn't completely sure what had happened she could sense her master's pain, and considering that he hadn't mentioned Leyla since she'd been released she figured that something had happened.

Her reaction notified Korbin as to Leyla's presence. He followed Helena's eyes and squinted into the darkness, not sure what she was looking at. Slowly he proceeded down the hallway, and began to hear footsteps in his direction. Slowly the slight figure of Azleyla became visible to him. As soon as he realized who she was he stopped dead, his eyes wide.

"L-Leyla…"

As quickly as the lapse in his emotional wall had come, it was gone. His eyes were devoid of emotion and his face was blank as he clasped his hands behind his back. "Ah, I see you've returned. I'm glad you didn't run into trouble whilst you were gone. I'm afraid I haven't found an exit yet."

Korbin was well aware that he was missing his shirt, and despite his efforts his face flushed a deep red. But he didn't let that stop him from being as cold and blank as possible. Apparently being emotional with her would open the door for her to hurt him. Momentarily he wondered, who was worse? Lindsay, who made her sadistic intentions clear from the beginning, or Leyla, who preferred to play games instead?

Leyla's eyes filled with joy briefly, and she almost ran to Korbin, to let his arms encircle her, for him to say that it was alright and forgive her.

She knew that this wouldn't happen. She stopped a few feet in front of him, eyeing his injuries, but decided that this wasn't the time to bring them up. She felt awkward, for the first time in a while, Azleyla felt completely awkward and childish. She gazed at her feet, her mouth not yet able to form words.

She instantly felt like a thousand knives had stabbed her when Korbin used his polite, monotone voice with her. She was hurt badly by his unfamiliarity. She could barely hold back her tears.

"K-Korbin..." her usually melodic voice came out raspy and weak. Leyla cringed, and continued. "Korbin, I... I didn't say those things... I would never... I could never say those things to you without being possessed or something. Mary Ellen possessed me so I would hurt you and the Shadow could kill you. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true."

Leyla took a deep, shaky breath, and her tears started to spill over. "I know you'll probably never forgive what I said, and I know I really don't deserve you, but I just want you to know that I'm extremely sorry, and I really do lov-... care about you." she finished, and rubbed her arms against the slight chill of the Chateau.

Mary Ellen appeared beside Leyla, invisible to everyone but her. She gave a small smile to Leyla.

Korbin's entire body was painfully tense as he listened to her speak. It would be so easy for Leyla to lie to him, to tell him that she hadn't meant it then turn around and do it again. But was it worth the risk? For a brief moment he contemplated turning around and walking away. But as hurt as he'd been, he couldn't stand to see her cry. His resolve crumbled at her slight stumble. Though part of him thought he'd been mistaken, but he knew otherwise. He relaxed visibly and managed a smile; a real one.

"I lov-care about you, as well." Korbin pulled her into his arms and rested his head atop hers. "You're cold," he said lamely, as though the behavior needed an excuse. It could work, too. Korbin had always been a fairly warm person, and without the fabric of his shirt his body heat radiated more freely. Of course, that also brought attention to the fact that it was missing. He flushed again, and this time was glad that she couldn't see it.

Helena felt a bit put out, being so quickly ignored with Leyla's return. She hopped down and honed in on Samrin's spirit down the hallway. Slowly and tentatively she inched toward him, her feathers flat against her fur, her body low to the ground.

[S-Samrin?] she asked nervously. He perked his ears up and his tails wagged, as though he was thrilled that she could see him.

[Yeah, that's me. And you are…?]

Helena cocked her head, a bit hurt by the fact that he didn't seem to remember her. [Helena. Korbin's, as were you. Do you not remember?]

Samrin shook his head sadly. [No. It's nothing against you, understand. I don't really remember anything. I don't even really remember Korbin.]

Leyla was tense as she waited for Korbin to say something. She stared at her shoes, until she felt warm, muscular arms wrap around her slim figure. She wrapped her own ams around his middle, and her slowly falling tears turned to tears of happiness.

After a bit in this position, Leyla's tears dried up, and she was more aware of her surroundings. She remembered that Korbin didn't have a shirt on, and she blushed furiously.

"Ah, Korbin." she whispered, looking up at him with a slightly coy smile. "I know this isn't the best time to ask, but where is your shirt?"

---
Flare and Sakura, who had been following the other trainers in their own Mistress's absence, can forward, ready to greet Leyla after she was done embacing with her mate.

They looked over to where Helena was standing, and saw her speaking to a ghostly figure. Curious, Sakura padded over to see what exactly it was, ignoring Flare's warnings.

She was shocked when she recognized the form of Samrin, the young Vulpix that had died in the fire. She immediately felt extremely guilty, but continued to move forward, towards him.

[S-Samrin?] she said cautiously as she came to a rest beside Helena.

Graham had been ready to talk to Korbin some more, happy that apparently he had at least been forgiven for Jackson's earlier transgression's on the surface, but then he saw Korbin turn his head in the direction Helena was looking and walk down the hallway. Graham followed behind Korbin and was excited when he saw Leyla walking down the hallway towards them, when they first met eachother the conversation was emotionally one sided, when they apparently made up Graham let out an audible sigh of relief, he knew to Korbin and Leyla he was probably just a third wheel, epsecially considering what happened when Jackson had taken him over, but he still didn't want to be on his own, besides, the three had been together practically since entering the Chateau.

"Not to bother you guys but, Leyla, I'm really glad your okay too." Graham thought better of getting into the conversation and backed off. "Nevermind, I'm sure Korbin would be glad to tell you everything that's happened." Graham backed up a few steps to hang back on the edge of the events again when a sudden shudder racked his entire body, something he thought he had been free from was in his presence again.

Jackson moved throughout the hallways as he once did on a regular basis, except now he was checking on different things and for much purer reasons, when he heard voices, he had found the humans. First Jackson walked by Graham, noting the way the human reacted to his presence. "hmmm, I'll have to apologize to him later for what I did a while ago." Jackson kept walking and arrived at an emotional scene, Korbin and Sele-Azleyla had reunited, and even Korbin's dead pokemon posing as an agent of the shadow was there, although unknown to Korbin so far, the perfect time for Jackson to make his reappearance. "Everything Azleyla has said is true." Jackson's voice probably startled Korbin a bit and Jackson expected Leyla had probably thought she would never see him again.....or had just downright forgotten he was ever involved in her life. "The Shadow is a spritual tyrant of epic preportions. With his semi-demonic powers he has been able to force most of the spirits in this chateau to it's will.....only two have ever gone against it, I am one of them."

The silence that surrounded them was wonderful as far as Korbin was concerned. For the first time in several hours he was completely relaxed and calm. He could feel her breathing against him, could smell her sweet perfume. He even forgot about the constant dull ache and sting of his welts. That is, until she mentioned the fact of his bare skin. He blushed furiously yet again and cleared his throat.

"I, eh, lost it?" he said tentatively. Korbin still felt guilty about what had happened with Lindsay Parker, whether it had been his fault or not. To make it worse he had found her attractive, and may not have minded the treatment so much if he hadn't just been shown the brutal murder of his youngest brother, and known that the torture would end with his own death. If he could avoid telling her all of the details he would, but he knew he couldn't be so vague.

"I went in another door," he admitted. "There was a malicious entity, and I passed out. When I woke up my shirt was gone. She attacked me."

He glanced at Graham when he spoke, but didn't release his hold on Leyla. It wasn't as though he were suffocating her; she could still speak to answer. And part of him was afraid if he let her go she would be gone again. He didn't know if he could handle that.

Korbin cursed under his breath as a disembodied voice echoed through the hall around them. He'd had more than enough of disembodied voices, invisible entities, and peeks into worlds that didn't exist.

"Well, that's just wonderful," he growled. "Tell your Shadow to go f-eat itself."

Naturally he'd had a far better word in mind, but as he'd begun to say it he remembered that he was in Leyla's presence, and with his upbringing one did not curse in front of a lady.

***

Helena was still and quiet, trying to absorb all of this. How could Samrin even be speaking to her? Worse, how could he not remember Korbin and herself? Samrin had been the first Pokemon Korbin ever caught himself, and though Samrin sometimes showed rough behavior, he and Helena had a close bond. Though she knew she couldn't blame him, it hurt. She blinked furiously and sighed.

[I can't say I'm glad you're here, Sammy,] she said sadly. [I guess that means you haven't crossed over. Why not?]

Samrin was just about to answer when a soft, feminine voice perked his ears up and caused his tails to wag. He may not completely remember him, but he instinctively knew that he was happy to see the curvy Leafeon.

[Present. You're looking gorgeous this evening.]

Through her upset and tears Helena managed to roll her eyes. [You can never stop being a creeper, can you?]

Leyla grinned up at Korbin when he said he 'lost' his shirt, obviously not believing him. She waited for him to give a better explanation. Korbin glanced away for a minute before answering. She grinned wider and was about to speak, when she was interupted by Graham.

"Thanks, Graham. I missed you guys." she said, glancing around Korbin's (deliciously) toned torso to smile at him. She glanced up at Korbin as Jackson's voice filled her mind. She scowled when he mentioned the Shadow.

'I thought you were dead, Jackson...' she said in her mind, then turned to Korbin again, to address his previous answer about where his shirt had gone off to, after giggling slightly at Korbin's almost swearing.

"So it was a female entity, was it?" she cooed, with one eyebrow raised. "So a female entity took off your shirt, and I'll guess whipped you, by the looks of these marks."

Leyla looked up at him through her eyelashes.

"Well, I'll forget about that, only because... " she leaned forward and whispered. "I quite like the sight of you with your shirt off."

---

Sakura purred at the half-drooling ghostly Samrin's compliment.

[I'm quite glad to speak to you again, Samrin, but I am concerned about why you are here in the first place.] Sakura cocked her head. [Is somebody keeping you here? Are you hurt?]

Sakura giggled again at Helena's 'creeper' remark, and smiled at her.

(Mmm, Leyla's getting a bit more flirtyyyy ;D)

Korbin knew he shouldn't feel guilty. It wasn't as though he had a say in what had happened with Lindsay. If he had he certainly wouldn't have consented to it. But he still felt as though he had wronged Leyla. It did help, though, that she seemed more teasing than angry, probably sensing his discomfort and using it to her advantage. It made him smile, despite how nervous it was making him at the same time.

"I, ehm, I… Well, yes. She was female," he said slowly. "But she was ugly?"

He offered her a tentative grin, unlike his usual confident self. Scruffy, a little bloody, and showing the first signs of five o' clock shadow, he had only the slightest resemblance to the man who had strode into the Chateau as if he owned it. The change was even more evident when she whispered that she didn't mind the change in his dress. He blushed all the way down to his neck and cleared his throat. But he regained his footing quickly. Korbin grinned at her and raised an eyebrow. "Look all you want, love." He leaned closer and whispered to her, "I'm sure I'd quite like the sight of you with your shirt off."

***

Samrin sighed and his ears drooped a little, but he didn't lose his peppy countenance. [I'm being kept here,] he said slowly, [but I don't want to say too much. I don't want to get you involved.]

Leyla's eyes brightened with mischief as Korbin made his slightly perverted comment after he blushed a good deal. She enjoyed perverted comments immensely. She moved her arms from around Korbin's waist, up to around his neck. This support drew her inches up, making her stand on her tip-toes.

Leyla bit her lip slightly seductively, and moved her face closer to Korbin's. His neck was slightly bent down towards her, and, on her tip toes, Leyla was just able to press her lips to his.

She kissed him slowly, deliberately, with promise of more to come. She pressed her body against his, soaking in his warmth, and greatly enjoying the moment.

Leyla pulled back after a few seconds, liking to torture the older man slightly with slower actions. She eyes twinkled, and she let her arms slide down back to their original spot around Korbin's waist.

----

Sakura turned angry hearing that some body was keeping Samrin' soul trapped in the Chateau.

[Who is it?] she snarled, but kept her voice low, dangerous. [Who is keeping you here?] She didn't care if Samrin didn't want her to be involved, she wanted to know no matter what.

Flare turned extremely alarmed at Sakura's outburst. Her Grass-type friend didn't get angry often, but when she did, only Jel could calm her down.

Sakura wasn't nice when she was angry, and she could kick some serious backside when she was. Even Flare, a Fire-type that had the type advantage, was afraid of the younger Pokemon when she was angry.

Beneath the confidence, directly related to the bursts of shyness, was the fact that no matter what he said or how he acted Korbin had still never been with anyone before. This was exactly why Leyla's reaction completely blew his mind. He watched her with wide eyes, anticipating her next move. Never would he have imagined anyone else having control of a situation, never mind a girl. But when she kissed him he allowed her to have utter control. He closed his eyes and leaned down so that she wouldn't have to tilt her head up so far, and shivered at the feel of her so close to him. He would have gladly allowed it to escalate, but just as he was gathering the nerve to pull her into one of the nearby rooms she pulled back and relaxed her arms. He lost all of his resolve then and grinned sheepishly, but luckily didn't blush.

"Th-that was… wow," he stuttered. "You should do that more often. In fact, you could do it again right about now… er, that is, if you want."

The awkwardness was invaded by Lex's voice in the back of his mind.

'She's playing with you. She just wants to lead you on, and when she has you at your most vulnerable she'll just leave again.'

Korbin didn't tense outwardly, but he lashed out violently at Lex. "You don't know what you're talking about. You're a voice. You know nothing of human thought, emotion, or tendencies. Just go to hell."

With a deep sigh he wrapped his arms around Leyla's waist tighter. "I'm not letting you go again, I hope you know," he said softly.

***

Samrin was surprised by Sakura's reaction. He was, however, more afraid than anything else. [Keep it down,] he squeaked. [I'll tell you everything, but you have to be quiet. For me. If he finds out I told you anything…] He shuddered violently, which was completely out of character for him. Samrin had always laughed in the face of much larger foes, and risked and lost his life in violent flames. For him to be afraid of any entity was almost unheard of, and he knew it. He hoped that Sakura would know it as well and take the signal to be calm.

[I'll tell you everything. But you have to do exactly as I tell you, no questions asked. If I tell you to be quiet and pretend I'm not here, do it. If I tell you to run and go out the way you came, do it. Even if I tell you to bite your master and lead them away from me, you have to do it. Can I trust you to do that, beautiful?]

Helena spoke up then, her expression solemn. [Yes, Sammy. I'll do whatever you need me to.]

Before Mark had a chance to tell Snype to start tearing the door to shreds, He could hear what sounded like crying. Nobody else was in the room besides Korbin and Helena so it was likely another mindgame. To Mark's surprise, Korbin recognized the sound and began calling out the name "Darin". Who was Darin? Somebody Korbin knew? Mark hardly recognized the sound.

Either way, The crying was getting louder and louder, So loud that both Mark and Snype's ears started hearing what sounded like the white noise from a TV. Eventually the noise stopped to Mark's Relief...but something didn't feel right. The Silence disturbed him a little. "Snype...brace yourself..." He warned his partner. All of a sudden Korbin Collapsed as soon as he called back helena. Before Mark had a chance to run over and see what was wrong, He began to feel a very sharp pain in his head. It felt like a bullet piercing through his skull. As his vision became more blurry, Mark eventually passed out as well, along with Snype.

When Mark woke up, Everything around him was as dark as it was when he was out cold. The room he was in was completely silent, But a faint breeze could be felt nearby. Mark attempted to feel around the room for an exit only to find out that he was tied onto something. "Snype? You there?" He called out. He could hear various grunts coming from the left side of where he was tied up. "I sure hope that's you making that noise. What the hell happened? All I remember is crying. It didn't sound at all familiar." He said.

"You should be glad that she didn't choose you first". Mark could hear a familiar voice in his head... "....Reina? Did you tie us up?!" A blinding light shined down on Mark and his partner."Nonsense. If I wanted you dead then I would have done it earlier. As tempting as it is, I have orders. None of us would be happy if any of you died to early." Reina told Mark.

"Us? You mean the one who's calling the shots? I figured he would have wanted everyone dead by now." Mark questioned the spirit. "The spirt that lurked in this room was planning on doing that to both you and the tall one. She's soon to be punished for her reckless deeds. It doesn't concern you." Reina said as she materialized into the form of a faceless 11 year old and began untieing Mark and Snype. Snype hissed at the spirit, sensing that she obviously wasn't a friend of Marks. "I'll leave you to your own business for now" Reina said fading back into Mark's subconsciousness.

The small room eventually became brighter and to Mark surprise, He was in a stuck in a closet for quite some time. The door was unlocked, Possibly because of Reina. Mark walked out of the closet to find himself back in the very room he was trapped in before, however this time, The door was unlocked. Perhaps Korbin found his way out of the spirit's grasp. "Comon Snype, Let's get out of here. Next time you see a wooden door, break it open would ya?" Mark said to his partner.

Outside of the room Korbin had reunited with Leyla which saved everyone the trip through the chateau. Now that Leyla was safe, Mark could focus on figuring out how to get out of the Chateau. Mark stayed silent as the two had their moment and sat against the wall until everybody was ready to continue on. [Yeesh, How long were we out?] Snype said to himself out loud.

Azleyla was pleased with Korbin's reaction, and reached up to lightly and quickly kiss his lips once more.

"Gladly. But later, when we have more privacy." Leyla smiled sweetly at him. "And a bed." Her smile took on a more saucy look to it, and her eyes glinted with mischief.

Leyla let herself relax into Korbin's embrace, and sighed deeply in comfort.

"And you think I'm letting you go anywhere?" she said playfully, and smiled again.

---

Sakura willed herself to calm slightly, and looked Samrin straight in the eye to witness true fear, something she'd never seen before in her life. She allowed all her anger to leave her body, and looked Samrin seriously in his eyes.

[Alright.] she agreed, and smiled slightly. [Just don't keep me in the dark, and I'll do anything for you.]

Flare let out her breath in a soft whoosh. That was close, they almost had needed Jel to come out and calm the younger Pokemon.

This new side of Leyla was something Korbin hadn't seen before, and he liked it. Sure, they were moving a bit fast, but he didn't have any complaints. He enjoyed the closeness and comfortable way she treated him. He wasn't sure just how much she would be alright with him saying, but he decided not to test the boundaries too strongly. Yet.

Looking down at her, he grinned and kissed the top of her head. "No. I suppose you won't." He glanced over her head, then back down at her, his forehead creased with worry. "Though we should hurry. I want out of here, and I want you out of here."

***

Samrin relaxed visibly when Sakura agreed to be calm about it. Knowing it might be difficult to explain, he sat down, though he was still prepared to jump up and be at anyone's throat for them in an instant, including the Shadow's.

[I died,] he said simply, thinking that was a good place to start. [I was confronted by a... shadow... who told me that everything would be okay. But it's not. Long story short...] He glanced at Korbin, then back at Sakura and Helena. [He wants me to steal the tall one's spirit, and bring it back to him. I don't know why.]
