Helena preened Korbin a bit as he looked down the hallway, wanting to make sure it was safe to proceed. She combed out his hair with her claws and licked some of his wounds, though he shook his shoulder a little to get her to stop. It was commonly known that the saliva of certain species of Pokemon had healing properties, but her tongue felt odd on his skin and hurt the wounds. She got the message and quit, just in time to hear Graham approaching. She perked her ears up and squeaked, letting him know there was someone coming. Korbin glanced in the direction and realizing it was just Graham, relaxed somewhat. After his episode in the room he was feeling a bit paranoid.
"I'm fine," he insisted. "I don't want to touch them until I can sit down and assess it all. I'm not sure how deep they all are, and I don't want to bandage them yet. It could hinder my mobility, and right now I need to be able to move correctly. Anything could happen at any second."
At his questioning as to what had happened, he smiled wearily. "All you really want to know is women are crazy."

This was truly disconcerting. Leyla's voice alone was familiar, and he felt strangely at ease around her. As she continued to speak he hung on to her every word, as though they were the very essence of life. She went on to speak of a place called the Chateau. That was familiar, but not enough to really stir him. But Ignotus and Helena… He knew them. He knew them, and they had been an important part of his life before… something. But most important was Korbin. If Ignotus and Helena had rung a bell, Korbin set off an alarm. Whoever he was, Samrin felt a strong tie to him, a desire to return to him. His loyalty to this Korbin still tugged at him, even though he couldn't be sure who that was.
Sakura… He knew that name, too. It was familiar, though to a lesser extent than the others. It was driving him crazy, not knowing who these names belonged to. Obviously they were important. So why didn't he know?
"Enough!" the Shadow said suddenly. "You will cease your attempts to confuse my servant."
Samrin flattened his ears against his head, but said nothing. He'd never been anyone's 'servant' and he never was going to be. But he would have to play his cards right to get out of here. And he couldn't leave the girl here. From what he'd learned of the Shadow, she was in grave danger, and he wouldn't have that.
[If I may, I have a suggestion,] Samrin said strongly, yet with an air of false respect. [This girl causes the tall one to let his guard down. With him preoccupied I could easily steal his spirit and have it back here before anyone knew what had happened. And if she would not come back of her own accord I could take her spirit as well.]
The Shadow surveyed him cautiously, unsure whether it was a good idea to go with this. But he didn't yet have any idea that Samrin had begun to remember his past, and saw no harm in it.
"I will allow it," he said slowly. "But you must not fail me."
Samrin nodded and trotted over to Leyla. His eyes asked her to follow, whether she understood what he had said or not.
