    It would make sense
(But since when did anime start making sense)
Well i was thinking since Paul's Electabuzz
(most likley electrvire by the next time we see it)
knows protect monferno knowing feint Would be a good way to get through it
this was just some thing i thought of while i was playing uncharted 2 lol So what do you think

Protect can only be used once to guarantee it works, multiple uses in a row makes it less likely to work. If Monferno (or really any of Ash's team) learned a stat-up move or Stealth Rock, they could do that while Electabuzz uses Protect.

Pikachu: In the past has learned Agility. But his moveset for Sinnoh seems to be firmly set in Iron Tail/Thunderbolt/Volt Tackle/Quick Attack.
Staraptor: Learns Double Team and Agility via level up in the game. It doesn't really need to be much faster, but Paul's Weavile did outspeed it at one point during the full battle.
Grotle: Grotle can heal while Buzz uses Protect, which is handy. It also learns Curse via level up in the games, which would put a great emphasis on it's defensive ability. Light Screen, Reflect, Safeguard, Amnesia, and if anyone could put Substitute to good use, it'd be this guy.
Monferno: Man wouldn't this be a great guy to learn Stealth Rock? This would prevent Hounchkrow being switched in without getting mauled by floating stones. Nasty Plot, Swords Dance are cool but far less likely.
Buizel: Man, if Ash wanted his own user of Bulk Up, this would be it. Stat up for attack and defense + priority move in Aqua Jet? Awesome.
