Attempt at using Photoshop

I just recently started using photoshop, and I've been experimenting around, so far here's what I've come up with.

Well, these are the brand new ones that I made today, I think they're A LOT better than the other ones I made, but these aren't the best either. Anyways, feel free to use these, just please give me credit.

I like how I used the brushes on this one, but it looks a little overdone, anyone else think so?

For those of you who don't know, Namine draws pictures of the future, hence the background.

This one is one of my favorites, because all I did was use a gradient overlay after cropping the picture, I think it looks really nice but that's just me.

This is my 2nd fav because I like how I used the white to symbolize his pure heart, and then some black tendrils coming out of the ground "corrupting him"

This one was pretty simple, I just used a picture I found, rendered it and pasted it onto a custom background.

Ivysaur is one of my favorite pokes :)

Shiva, the aeon from final fantasy x I know it looks otherwise, but she IS clothed.

Suicune is one of my favs :)

The following are nature so yeah I took some pics rendered added cloud/lighting effects and such.

First things first: Take out the spoilers, please. Dx Alright, well I don't really have much to say except that I can tell you just started Photoshop and all you have to do is just keep practicing. It's really hard at first I know, but my suggestion is use lots and lots of brushes and lots and lots of textures. Find the style you like and you're good. ^^ So just keep practicing to get better.

^ That has good concept.

Just as a little tip, save your work as PNG, or if you want to save it as JPEG, put up the quality, since some of them look messed up, in terms of quality.

Seeing as you just started, there's nothing much else to say. Keep experimenting, look at some tutorials, download some brushes.

Great work!
I recommend finding some tutorials on Google and following them Step by Step so you can compare them to the guide. This will help you develop a style you like and how to use the many features of Photoshop.

You are doing the most FANTASTIC thing right now. You are playing around ^^ Its the best thing to do...get to know the tools, experiment with what they can do and then after a week or so start looking at tutorials. ^^ That way when they say, 'Go click the button of...DOOM' you know where that is.... =) I don't think there is actually a button of Doom... but if there was, it would be the business.

Look for simple tutorials some time on:
The Pen Tool (It is not as evil as it seems...It is totally awesome)
Borders: Very Quick and simple... Create a new layer, then press Ctrl+A and it makes a dashed selection... then go to Edit> Stroke and select the thickness and colour of the border etc. And when you done to deselect the selections press Ctrl+D.
Clipping Masks
Blending/Flow
Smudging
Filters
Photo filters...
Text tutorials (TEXT IS SO FUN!)

Search on google and get used to those things.

Oh you should totally Have fun with the filter>Distort effects =)
