[PokeCommunity.com] Back, and better than ever!

The Battle Frontier was originally an after game location in Pokemon Emerald, consisting of the Battle Tower, Battle Palace, Battle Factory, Battle Pyramid, Battle Dome, Battle Arena and the Battle Pike. In the next Generation after Hoenn, being the 4th, only the Battle Tower came back in Diamond and Pearl. Then came Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver...and what happened?

We got the Battle Frontier back. Sadly, compared to the Hoenn Frontier, the 4th Generation got less facilities from a huge 7 to a slightly smaller 5, but in compensation, some fresh, new ones in mixture with returning ones. We got the Battle Tower and Battle Factory back, along with the new Battle Arcade, Castle and Hall. The Tower was simply about win streaks, and the Battle Factory was all about using pre prepared Pokemon to win. The Battle Arcade was structured around a roulette board that selects different kinds of conditions, both assisting and penalising you. The Battle Castle implemented a new feature called Castle Points that allowed you to buy things like berries and the ability to heal, while the Battle Hall pits you against a singular type. So, my question is this.

    - What was your favourite Battle Frontier facility? Why is it your favourite?

    - How do you feel about the return of the Battle Frontier?

    - Do you think some more of Emerald's facilities should've come back to the 4th Generation games?

    discuss away~

I was bitterly disappointed that it wasn't the same like in Emerald.

    - My favorite facility would have to be the Battle Tower, as said above, it's simply about win streaks and I like that.

    - I'm glad it returned, even though it wasn't the same, it's far better than that accursed Pokemon World Tournament (it wasn't that fun).

    - What I hated was the Battle Hall, I don't even know why, I just hate it. I kinda wish that the Battle Dome made a return.

I was extremely happy to see them bring Battle Frontier back. My favorite facility would definitely have to be Battle Factory. It provides you with a variety of Pokémon to battle with, which, of course, are not yours. If you ask me, this is a pretty unique concept, as it allows you to familiarize yourself with those Pokémon and see what their strong and weak points are. As far as Emerald facilities go, they were fun, but wasn't really disappointed to not see them come back or anything. d:

Battle Factory for sure. Renting pokemon just seemed to appeal a hell of a lot to me. It was just so fun mixing and matching and trying out pokemon i'd never really used before. There was a little strategy involved with pikcking your pokemon too.

    - How do you feel about the return of the Battle Frontier?
I was happy to see it make a return in Gen 4. While it wasn't anything compared to the Gen 3 Battle Frontier (in terms of size, number of facilities, buildings in general and places to explore) I was glad to see the return of such an interesting post game area. I also liked how they included the rival's father as the Battle Tower (I think) frontier brain.

    - Do you think some more of Emerald's facilities should've come back to the 4th Generation games?
Yeah. I particularly liked the Seviper one in Emerald. I know that having that Seviper building in Gen 4 would have looked out of place, especially in the format that the buildings were set in at the Gen 4 Battle Frontier. But forget the whole snake theme, anything along the lines of choosing which path you take which determines what you do in the following room would have been a nice addition.

The battle tower because I love battling different types of trainers with a basic rules.

    - How do you feel about the return of the Battle Frontier?
Im very happy to see that the Battle frontier came back from the grave.

Hmmm...maybe the battle pyramid since it is my favourite facility on Generation 3.

I didn't expect it to be the same as the Kanto/Hoenn Frontier, but I did expect it to be good, which I think for the most part it was! I never played Emerald's so I couldn't compare, but what I can say is that I actually quite enjoyed the battle frontier. (Despite not really getting many awards.) Out of them all, I was quite fond of the battle factory. renting Pokemon to battle with was quite a challenge, especially if given...crappy ones.

It was one of the best features in Pt/HGSS. I loved playing it with online co-op back in the day and I'm still spiteful toward GF for ruining Battle Maison by making it infrared-only.

The Battle Frontier being my favorite post-game in Pokemon, I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out they would be making a comeback in generation IV. With the improvement of the old buildings and addition of the new buildings, downsizing it from Emerald's size didn't matter much at all. I liked the simplicity of the Battle Tower, and was severely addicted to it for a while, haha. The challenge the Tower brings to the table is unlike anything before it in Pokemon games!
