Backrounds & layouts - theme how!?

I was wondering how to make themes i guess for your sites, like
Backrounds & stuff, i don't know how i can make them and stuff
but how do i add them to my site/ get there html? Im really
confused as i wan't to make my squirtle site better!

If you want to make it look really speccy, one way to do so is to create your layout in a graphics editing program package and slice the layout accordingly into pieces.

Dont worry about backgrounds now, If you want to make it better you must work on content.

I I make my site with dreamwever. They are easy to work with.

i used dreamweaver and frontpage 2003, i found frontpage more easier.

I use HTML!!! Yay the hard way!!! And of course for pictures and stuff photoshop and paint shop pro (I got both lucky meh!) Hehe, I don't really have a site but I'm working on one! :P

I find HTML and Dreamweaver supperior greatly to Frontpage. But HTML is best ^^;

I prefer notepad. But I have honestly never touched dreamweaver or front page, so I dont know what they are like.

I use Frontpage to build content - it's quick and easy. I do the layouts in Fireworks (graphics program) and Dreamweaver though, and for HTML I almost always use Dreamweaver since it's so user-friendly for that (automatic tag completion etc.). For debugging I like HTML-Kit, that's easy to use too.
