Not exactly a "punishment" programmed in, instead the game shows a Bad Egg if it doesn't know what to do with the data you've given it, through the use of cheating devices.

I'd say don't excessively use cheats, and you'll most likely never encounter a problem ;)

Bad egg also never hatches into anything, or just hatches into itself again.

Its said it erases you save, and deletes your pokemon by converting them too into bad eggs.

speaking of things like that... I'd make sure that if you have an egg with you, that you have at least 2 Pokemon with you... or else your one pokemon turns into an egg too O_O

Pokerus is a status condition your Pokemon may get by getting infected by another Pokemon. The virus makes it easier for your Pokemon to train EVs.
In game, its extremely rare to get, its even higher than Shiny Pokemon.

lol someone traded me a bad egg with the Pokerus on it, so nearly half of my Pokemon got infected before I had any idea what was going on. At the time I thought a bad egg was just something rare, not the result of cheating. I now know the true nature of bad eggs. Good thing I got rid of it by trading it to my FR game before starting it over :)

Yes, pokerus is a good thing....a very good thing infact.

For example, A pokerus Blissey would have a lot more hp than a normal Blissey

I beleive it doubles the effort value points gained from a battle. Along with one of the "power 5" which doubles it again, you could max out there stats! But be warned, Pokerus only lasts for 24 hours. Once a pokemon infected with pokerus has been in your party for 24 hours, they become healed, and a little face appears in there profile. If you keep an infected pokemon in your box, pokerus will not run out unless you put it in your party. I hope that helps ya.
EDIT: The max HP a Blissey EV trained level 100 would have is somewhere in the 700s.. very handy indeed!

wow yeah...really handy!and don't forget that blissey is a wall so it can wall even the most powerful pokemon with those hp
