I say yes...just, cause O_o

W00t a Praetor that agrees. That can only be good. Oi Blue what do you think?

I say yes, it's not like we are all out to get revenge on people.

Seeing peoples names could help out, you could explain the meaning of the post to whoever it was, so they don't have any serious hard feelings.

I say no-If people are using rep like they should be using it, they'll leave a comment of why they bad repped them. Plus there are some bad sports that get really mad at any bad rep at all.

unfortunely the rep system isn't all that flexible.. it's not a required item, but is wholely optional and is just used to get a feel for each members posts.. abusing it serves no purpose other then to make you look bad and hurt the feelings of others.. why not, instead, educate users on it's proper usage and perhaps all of PC can benifit from it.
But Steve, you don't seem to understand. Good rep is 20x more abused than bad rep, yet nobody cares.

Lets say that a member left a bad rep on another member. Well the member that got the rep might look at it in a bad way and start flaming. Then both members get in a fight and their friends jump it. And in the end it's not going to look pretty.
Thanks for repeating what I said. ^_^

However now a days I dont care who gave it to me, even if that was Dakota himself.
I deserved it for not grabing the facts, even though at the time I didnt believe it but at the same time its best for us to just place the "~ user" on the text for good reps so people can know who did it ^^.
Uh... last time I checked, that was promoting rep abuse. O_o;

I want to know who did that so I can report them.
If the system was used properly, then those people would have rep so low that there would be no point in reporting them.

But surely the mods/admins can be stricter about rep abuse. Like punishment for repeat offenders or something.
But if that was dealt for bad rep abuse, then the same would have to occur for good rep abuse, and believe me, there's way too much of that for the staff to punish people.

That's exactly what I've been saying for the past... what, 2 weeks? Also, while you're at it, remember to include your username in the bad rep, so people know to bad rep you back, just like good rep. See? In the end, it's nothing but abuse.

Okay, I think we understand the Rep system is abused, nothing we can do besides disable it, or the higher staff just get rid of it altogether.

Upon rethinking my decision, I now think names being attached is best left as optional.

You'll notice that when you get a god rep, a name is left, in hopes of being repped back.

With names auto attached, it will be pretty much the same thing, people will just bad rep people back.

I think its just an example of how ppl make themselves feel big over the safety of the net. I leave my name on bad reps, and most good ones, ask maya miyazono. And usually if I get a good rep without a name I post a thanks in the thread I got it.

And those people will be dealt with. Nobody is above the law, so it's best to report them and continue on with your browsing.

I don't mind you putting your name on bad reputation, given that you're not going to retalliate when you become a victim of flaming and rep retalliation (as I like to call it), but sticking it on good reputation is, in essence, abuse. It's similar to saying, "This rep is from Lord Jaws, now you must return the reputation to him on an utterly random post that you didn't even read beforehand."

Same with bad rep - If it's abuse on one, it's abuse on the other.

I think it's fine with leaving names, but I don't think it should be an automatic thing - It's upto the member.

Consider this - You have been mates with someone for years, they make a bad post, you bad rep them.

Now, if this mate was obsessed with this, and it hurt his feelings, in effect, the auto namer could have just ruined a friendship.

Or perhaps, someone you really do not like just made a post that was excellent in every way possible - You love the post, and rep them, but would rather they didn't know it was you.

It's Kyogre-chan. I'm picky with capitalisations. XD

That's exactly the same as sticking your name onto the end of the rep you gave.

Mwar, I always put my name on rep. And I never give it unless the post is deemed worthy of rep increase/decrease.

lol, just as proof I got a bad rep saying:

"thats what everone means i mean comon who gives a crap he was dissagreing with oyu IT IS NOTHING BIG!"

They didn't have their name and they are obviously stating that, when someone disagrees with you its ok to bad rep them. Obviously its from one of those rep abusers.
To whomever that was, Thanks for Supporting my Cause.
It was about my post in this topic. lol

BTW can some Mod, or whomever has priveleges delete that
