I would assume that it is just the staff having some fun. I've only noticed the badges on staff members..

Yupp, it's just a little fun some of the staff were having today, no big secret usergroups or anything! They're not permanence either, just a bit of a laugh we were having today :]

Actually, you were the first fruit I saw. Then I saw Lightning with a watermelon, and was getting really curious.
