Hi, iv been collecting pokemon cards for as long as i can remember, but if only recently started building decks with them.

what iv learnt about the game iv learnt from youtube.

anyway im wondering you you balance out your deck. My main deck is a mixture of fire and grass pokemon.

for the record this is my deck:

    FIRE POKEMON:
    charmander x3
    charmelion x 2
    charizard x1
    slugma x1
    dark magcargo x1
    magmar x1
    fire manky x1
    fire primape x1
    eevee x1
    flareon EX x1
    cyndaquil x2
    quilava x2
    typhlosion x1

    GRASS POKEMON:
    Zubatx2
    golbatx2
    crobat EX x1
    chicorita x3
    bayleaf x1
    meganiumx1
    cacneax1
    cacturne EX x1
    lileep x1
    cradilly EX x1

    TOTAL POKEMON = 32

i have 8 fire energy and 6 grass energy

    and 13 good trainers

giving a total of the required 60

so how do you balance your deck?

do you have half pokemon and the other have split between energy and trainer cards?

since i havnt collected the new packs as much as the old packs i have no good stadium cards or item cards

One other thing: it would be easier for us if you included which set each card is from, that way we can figure out what the info for each card is and help you out better.

I wouldn't say that there is one sure-fire way to balance every deck out there. If you take a look at some of the decks that are around today, you'll see that the balance is all extremely different and unique to each deck. There are a few guidelines that you can follow, however.

    1. Consistency: how often does the strategy you've thought out actually work? If it's not very often, then you need to change it up. The only way to know is through practice.
    2. Focus: it was mentioned before, but you have too many evolution lines, making your deck unfocused and preventing you from having a solid, consistent strategy. Choose one line for your main attacker, and only include other lines that support that attacker. Pokemon with powers that support your main attacker from the bench are good.
    3. Techs: these are the other pokemon that are used to help out the main attacker. Pokemon with powers or bodies that either let you draw more cards, add damage, give you more HP, attach more energy per turn, evolve faster, or disrupt the opponent in some way are best. When you're playing against other people, you might notice more people playing a specific pokemon and you may want to include a tech pokemon as a counter-strategy to it.
    4. T/S/S: trainers, supporters, stadiums. They are the most important part of your deck, IMO. Figure out what your strategy is with your pokemon, and then only include t/s/s that help you achieve your strategy. I think it's always a good idea to include more t/s/s than anything else in your deck.

Sorry to ramble, hope this is what you were looking for.

The problem with your deck is that you have old cards. In most tournaments, you are not allowed to use old cards, and every so often the oldest usable pack is changed. EX's are no longer allowed, and Dark/Light is not allowed either. Also, in my deck, I have 19 pokemon, 21 energy's, and 20 trainers.
