why dont they just make another episode with porygon in it?
 
Jynx being banned?! That is the dumbest thing I ever heard... Jynx is just a video game sprite or a dawing, nothing to realy offend people.. But I have heard Jynx was copied of a real life person, but not African American.

I honestly think that that is dumb, I would have ever thought that Jynx looks like an African American. Why would pokemon risk losing ratings for racism? The Ice cave episode was Supposedly banned because of the SARS cases around the time the were supposed to pass those episodes, but with the recent banning of jynx in All thing bright and beautifly a person might get suspicious. Anyway, if you look at many official pokemon pictures of Jynx including the original pic of Jynx she is PURPLE. :pirate:

Porbably a random woman for letting ppl know how to draw stuff. e.g. hair, etc.

Besides, I think its impossible to find African-American in Japan, appart from tourists.
 
ya i agree with ya Jynx...that whole ban thing is stupid...Jynx is puwple! and that African American family probly just wanted to sue and get some extra cash...-_-;
 
the whole African American thing is ridiculous, i mean its just the color of jynxs skin. Look at say Umbrion. Its black. Why dont they sew it

But in fact, that Carole Boston Weatherford is a famous writer and won a lot of awards...(and I wonder why those badly written books which reads similar can all get those awards!!!)

And in another news article, she said that at first, she thought that Jynx was an abberation, but changed her point of view after seeing Mr. Popo of DragonballZ.

I don't know about dragonball, but I am sure that Pokemon doesn't mean it!
Seeing that Phoebe is a pretty elite4!

The problem is, CBW never replies her E-mails!!!! (she blocked my E-mail addresses!!!)No1 ever knows what she thinks.
Well, maybe we can some how get into contact with her 2 sons, which used to play Pokemon.

Black is a pretty natural colour. Why can't they use it?

And why don't say things like, "Simpsons clearly insults yellow people."?
Or Mickey Mouse clearly insults white poeple? =.=

Okay, I have found the article, and here's what I have to say...

Firstly, She explains it in that usual 'convincement' way, like with those things suggesting pokemon encourages boys to dress up as girls and to get their own pets to kill each other. Well, most shows can't show a moral message unless it's got some stuff kids like in it. take the Simpsons for example. It has many morals yet it has violence and hobos and stuff in it.
Anyway, I hate how people against it always rant in that way!

Secondly, she seems to think Jynx is based on 'Sambo' I've seen it...they're like black rag dolls. I guess they kind of look like Jynx, but I haven't seen a Jynx rag doll yet, so I still think the pokemon's innocent.

Thirdly, she thinks the name 'jynx' is wrong, with it being like 'Jinx' and linking it up to Nintendo calling african americans bad luck.
Well, I don't know what Jynx's japanese name is, but it was changed to Jynx by america.

Lastly, any show can be seen as bad if you spot tiny flaws.
from preschool shows like Blue's Clue's(I'm going to put up a fake rant about it in a new thread. to cartoons like Spongebob.

I read this article a while back on Dogasu's site. As he pointed out, Japan doesn't have the ethnic deveristy of America, so this so-called 'black steriotype' is basically unknown to them. It's not like they planned to dub the series into English in the first place, so of course this kind of thing is accepted in Japan. *Shurgs*

Ruujura (Jynx's Jap name) means Lipsticked girl...or something similar.

Nothing to do with racism--Africans didn't invent lipsticks, besides I haven't seen one useing lipsticks!

Brock isn't the first one with that kind of eyes. It's just that animators sometimes like to draw characters like that. Xellos (attachment 1) from the anime "The Slayers" series has the same type of eyes and there is also Chichiri (attachment 2) from "Fuushgi Yuugi". They both look like that the entire serie. I'm sure there are more series where the characters have that kind of eyes.
 
Wow ha My friend is obsessed in Fushigi Yuugi.

And one more thing, I've asked one more African about the news paper article "Politically Incorrect Pokemon". And she said that Jynx is nothing offensive to her.
Another African's reply was, "That's stupid! Who the **** wrote this silly stuff?"
