Battle animations?

So, out of all the generations, which battles have the best graphics for you?

I think 3rd gen's moves are ugly, as well as 1st gen's. Also, before Yellow, all Pokémon sprites looked really strange, especially in the japanese Red and Green. Diamond and Pearl's moves and sprites look really cool, except for one thing: previous generations used floating fangs and punches that looked well for their time, but high-definition floating fangs don't suit that well when the rest of the environment is detailed.

In terms of sprites, D/P has the best, as they are bigger, and more detailed, and have all their colors corrected (such as Seedot). Finally, though, Emerald and DPP's battle start animations are terribly ugly and in some cases slow and boring. Sprites that small look terrible when distorted, so I think they could have helped by giving them more than one additional frame. The best in this is, obviously, Crystal's. The animations look really smooth.

So what are your opinion on battle graphics through generations?

With the exception of Ice Beam's animation, the attacks definitely look better in D/P. I'm not really a big fan of the Pokemon animations at the start of battle; some look distorted and pixelated. The 4th gen sprites are the best because they're larger and more detailed, though some of the 3rd gen trainer sprites still look really nice IMO.

Well, one thing I like about DPP's sprite is that the sprites themselves are bigger and obviously more detailed. I compared it with RSE and the amount of detail made a difference in both gen, as well as their size.

I also like some of the move animations used in the 4th, though I'll admit the 2nd gen's Hyber Beam was pretty awesome.

    my fav move animations
    Surf (super-smooth animation)
Hyper beam (ima firin mah lazor)
    Thunder (cool)
Curse (it's really fitting for ghost types)

    Least favorites
    ice beam (boring)
pound and tackle (just too basic)

Does anyone else think Battles should play out like the FR/LG opening? Think about how good the attacks would look then....
