Suggestion: Being able to read who sent Reputation Comments

Only staff can. If members were to read who sent them, they could get easily offended and confront those who gave those comments (especially when bad rep was around in the past). It's just saving less drama this way.

That would destroy the purpose of the anonymity of it. If they really wanted you to know who they were, they could have just sent you a PM. XD

If you think you got a harassing or unwarranted comment, just PM a higher staff and they'll see who it was a deal with them. :/

Well tbh staff could easily get offended by comments too.

But it is the staff member's job to punish those who issue out offensive comments, so it naturally requires that they be able to see who gave them what comments.

That being said, the staff members are usually very mature about it. They don't just sit around and fling poo.

Do they fling poo? I think so.

Back to normality, we had a rep system that listed people who sent the reps to you. That was a poor time, though.

Lets not talk about the rep system, shall we?

And they can write there name in the comment if they really want, but it isn't such a big deal. I haven't looked at it in a long time. I actually forgot about it before this post.

With the reputation system, regular users weren't able to see who sent it to them either. It's all basically to avoid any complications between members. Like the old saying, "the less you know, the better." So, if you received a negative and/or unwarranted comment to your post, then report it to a higher up. Even then, post comments are rarely looked upon since they aren't as big as the reputation system was and cause no harm to the receiver of the post comment.

I myself haven't taken much notice to my own post comments. They just aren't that big of a use to me, and they don't affect me very much. So, most of the time I just forget they exist - more so since I have the post comment boxed closed in my User CP.

You say it's too "avoid complications", but you're talking about letting anybody message a user anonymously any content they wish. I'm pretty sure I've got one that just says "shut up". (EDIT: That's "shut up ass". Charming. At least I know I've got a distinct personality)

On the other hand, does anyone actually pay attention to it? It's hardly going to affect how you write posts or anything. Seems like another pointless feature to me.

It would probably just start more fights, guys.
We already have enough of those on PC.

If you knew who sent that comment, then I'm sure you wouldn't just avoid them. Thinking like anybody else, you would go up to them and say something at the very least. This is what is trying to be avoided. However, if you receive a post comment that is purposely rude towards you, then that is something worth reporting to the higher staff to check on.

...and my point exactly, post comments aren't actually the biggest thing today on PC. More or less it's ignored by a majority of the users.

They don't just sit around and fling poo.

We save that for Monopoly night.

And I think it works much better this way, seeing who left a negative comment would only make the member more likely to 'return the favor' by leaving a similar comment on on of the other party's posts. This way the system is rarely abused in such a way.

Hence why I made that poo metaphor. Very rarely do I see a staff member fling poo at someone who did not justly deserve a face full of it.
Besides, the staff craps acid...usually being hit by it hard enough increases certain numbers that are better left at 0.

Look. Even mentioning rep is giving this thread an un-easy feel to it. xD; We don't need it back, nor anything close to it, I.E. non-anonymous post comments. I can see why people would want to know who sent the nice comments, but knowing who sent the bad ones..? Ugh, mess.
