I'm not really a fan of rap or whatever, but I love KiD CuDi.
I may be biased, growing up in Cleveland as well, but every song he puts out has at least one part that hits something deep.

It's pretty self-explanatory, except for the ghost part, which I can relate to a bit. Spends all this time in all these places and with these people, but the people that really matter ignore him - like he's a ghost.

Also, although I don't personally like Kanye West, I think he's a lyrical god, and I can respect that. He's bit for "Erase Me" by KiD CuDi is genius.

Aside from rap, I think Sick Puppies have some nice lyrics. "Odd One" by Sick Puppies is pretty good, as well as just a good sound (and an incredibly attractive bassist /drool). I think for more... lyrically central music, I look back to The Doors or Pink Floyd.
