Er, just so you know, there's already a thread asking who everyone's favourite starter is and it's on the first page of this board, so this thread is rather unnecessary.

That said, seeing as you later made a note that you were only talking about the Kanto starters; it'd have to be a draw between Squirtle and Charmander for me. Bulbasaur always struck me as an unoriginal starter and I never really liked its evolutionary line either, so it doesn't make the cut. I like Squirtle because it beat Brock in about three seconds and because of The Squirtle Squad in the anime, whilst Charmander is in my heart thanks to its amazing evolutionary line and the episode in the anime where Ash saves the Charmander from being killed in the rain.

i evolves in to a grass/ground and is very useful
