I use Advanced Text in my ROM hack. Works well. Give it a try. You just have to be careful with it so you don't corrupt data. You can find tutorials in the forums.

That's good for editing the intro and some other small stuff. The best text editor is XSE. I never used A-Text but I heard it causes a lot of problems. Use XSE and look for the tutorials.
I use XSE for almost all text editing. I figured he was talking about stuff inaccessible from XSE, such as the intro and sequences contained within the specials. But yes, I second this, XSE is much more useful for general text editing.
