Pet shop of horrors: it's dark, slightly gory, and really awesome

Hana-Kimi: i havent meet anyone who doesnt like it, its got school life, romance, and is a genderbender
WJuliet: Genderbender, school life
oh... srry... i'll stop filling up this post...

One Piece - Of course, it gets a lot of criticism, but the vast majority of that criticism is from people who haven't really given it a chance. I should say that I enjoy Shounen series, but only to a certain extent, they always leave me wanting more. Not One Piece. It's my favorite anime.

It looks like a stereotypical Shounen series with all of the fighting and getting stronger, but it acts more like a shorter more complicated story (although it's not short.) by the way the story goes and reveals things. (things that looked obscure and pointless hundreds of episodes ago, even things that are so tiny you might not have even noticed them, are later revealed to be very important to the story.)

I'd recommend One Piece a thousand times over to Shounen lovers, and even to people who don't typically like Shounen series. As I said they all leave me wanting more, One Piece changed that.

Ouran High School Host Club - It's absolutely hilarious and appeals to all people. I even know guys that like it. XD (not laughing at the guys that like it. Sorry.)

Monster - What can I say? It's coming on SyFy in late October. Watch it. It's so unlike any other anime I've ever seen. (very realistic and told more like a novel as opposed to an anime/manga)

Death Note is also a great one, but Monster is a better detective/horror series. Trust me on that one.

Sailor Moon - Yeah, I said it. When I first saw a commercial for this show, one thought went through my mind. BARBIES WITH SUPER POWERS! Keep in mind that this was before I really had a full grasp on what Anime was (I'd heard of Anime, but I didn't know what it was). I was dead against it. I hated it with a passion.

But then something happened that I didn't expect. I saw an episode. Not a fancy or special episode. Just one episode. And then I wanted to watch another. And another. The badly translated dub, by the way. Then I got to the point where Tuxedo Kamen went over to Beryl's side (called Tuxedo Mask in the dub). After that I couldn't stop watching it. So that's one I'd definitely recommend, in any format, to the average person.

Gundam Wing - The Gundam series has earned an interesting place in my heart. I enjoy it on an almost surreal level, much like how Sephiroth likes stabbing girls or Sabin likes bench pressing trains and houses. It's just one of those things I watch.

Gundam Wing is probably the single best Gundam series (besides maybe 0079) to really introduce Gundam to any audience. The basics are in check, everything is explained, and plenty of exposition is there. And the story wraps itself up pretty well by the end. So yeah, another recommendation.

Tenchi Muyo - This one's also a great one for getting new people into Anime. And it's just fun to watch. I can't really explain why I like it. But I will tell you that most people I've shown this to came back and said they loved it, even if some of them thought it was really strange. Great series, even if the ending makes no sense.

Oh, goodness. A great all-rounder? I'm not extremely sure, but...

Death Note is really rather good. It has romance, friendship, action and a hint of magic... Kinda. Ish. Great characters and storyline too, IMHO.

Shugo Chara! is also a great series, though I'm not sure it would appeal to everyone... It's got lots of good things going for it, and my two friends both love it as much as I do. I haven't spoken to anyone else about it, but I think it's certainly worth a try. Magic, friendship, romance, comedy, action, drama... I'd say it's a pretty darn good series. =3
