Best way to collect sets

Hello everyone,
My name is Helen and I'm trying to help my 9 year old daughter collect some of the new scarlet and violet sets such as Paldea evolved, obsidian flames and temporal forces.
Any advice please on the best way of collecting these sets. Is it buying boxes or random boosters? I bought a box of temporal forces and was disappointed we didn't even get one special illustration or hyper rare. The hit rate seems low but the price per pack is cheaper I guess. But I've bought random packs for obsidian flames and managed to pull both the 223 and 228 charizards.
I've bought some off eBay as well but can't afford to buy some of the rarer ones at the moment.
Any advice from pro collectors out there would be really appreciated. We don't play the game so don't have a need for dupes. Thank you

The only way to guarantee certain cards is buying singles, as booster packs will always be random. I myself collect sets by opening booster packs, you can get dupes, but the randomness is still quite fun! As for value, the booster bundles always seem pretty good, 6 boosters for 25 usd isn't half bad! Anyway, hope this helps!

buying singles is best, try local car boots, you can often find cheaper than eBay there and haggle a little.
