[PokeCommunity.com] Black City & White Forest

In the eastern side of Unova, between Routes 14 and 15 we had a location that changed between versions of both Black/Black 2 and White/White 2. One side of the games gave us Black City which is full of trainers to battle and items to buy from the shop, while the other half of the games has White Forest where you can catch rare Pokemon not usually found in Unova.

Come Black 2 & White 2, the areas get heavily overhauled and now contain Black Tower and White Treehollow where you battle tough trainers and climb up to eventually face Alder's grandson Benga, where defeating him earns you a shiny Dratini or Gible based on version. Trading keys between versions also allowed you to access the other version's location which was a nice touch.

Which one did you like better design-wise? Or which one did you like the facilities of better (assuming original B/W)? Did you ever complete the Black Tower/White Treehollow challenge?

Only played white but was massively disappointed with the design and function. I thought It'd be a more natural looking forest area with buildings that were useful. My first trip there it was basically empty of houses and pokemon.

Well, the trick to getting the trainers (Black City) or extra wild Pokemon (White Forest) in the original games is to link up with fellow players, and if you don't link up and leave it untouched for too long, everything disappears. That's not the case with Black 2/White 2 though.

Yeah I found that out, since I only got and started white last year though that was a bit of a pain since there was no wifi anymore.

I preferred White Forest. I think in the game where you use Unova Pokémon the whole way through, it was nice meeting some old favourites there. Also, I think for me while the futuristic idea of Black City seemed cool, I kinda preferred the futuristic design of Opelucid City, so it didn't really stand out to me as much as it might have.

I've never actually completed the Treehollow challenge before so I might go back and do that :)

Given I liked most of Black's exclusives better, it was natural I liked Black City. I have more of a love for technology as opposed to nature, although I wasn't a fan on how the mechanics worked in the original versions since the trainers on my game's city have all disappeared now. B2/W2's changes to the area does at least make for some good postgame content with the Tower/Treehollow.
