    Hi guys, I was just wondering, do you guys think that Blind people can dream? I've never met a blind person before so yeah. i haven't been able to ask them that. But I do reckon that they dream, like they don't see pictures, it's just colours and or they can hear voices of their friends and stuff. so yeah. What u guys think?

    Now this is an interesting poll ^^~
    I actually had to think a little bit on this one.

    Personally, I think they might be able to. I don't think dreaming has anything to do with the eyes. However, it might not be like normal people dream, especially if they have been blind since birth. ^^;

    I KNOW they can dream. Since dreaming doesn't involve eyes, yeah of course, it uses the brain to project images into the brain, seeing them without actually seeing them.

    But how things would look is a different story, like sammi said, it might not be like normal people, especially since birth.

    This is a very interesting question, actually. :3 I'm not sure, since I haven't ever met a blind person before either. ^^; If they're been blind since birth, then they might still see pictures, but it'll just be as they've always "visioned" them to be rather than what we actually can see.

    Of course they can.

    I believe that they can at least see minor images, possibly even how they think how humans look like. <3

    So interesting if you think about it though, these are one of those topics that make my mind fly out of this world.

    Well, I'm sure they can feel more emotion in dreams than we can. I don't think they can see colors...but if you give them a description, they might be able to picture something...I don't know :\

    I guess they can dream. Dreaming doesn't really involve eyes. This poll rather makes me wonder what they dream about;;;

    Of course. See, blind people feel things out, they touch everything that is unfamiliar to them, thusly making them be able to invision at least silhouettes of things in dreams. And if not that, maybe thoughts come into their head, narrated like a storybook~ :3

    Since dreams tend to be primarily visual, and the perception of the world by the blind is primarily tactile, the only common ground I can think of for the two is sound; which is the most stimulating sense left to the blind. If someone has never seen anything other than blackness before, they do not have the power to magically see something in their dreams. It would be like inventing a new color. Their brain can only reflect what they experience--and the truth is that the blind cannot visualize anything involving light, dimension, or motion.

    This is strictly about blind-since-birth people, though. Of course people who have lost their sight over the years can dream.

    Yes yes, the most speculations you have to look at have been explained above and I simply agree. With there being more than just sight for a sense, even if born into a forbidden blindness, something will be formed in a different way for certain. Just couldn't imagine a reason why they couldn't dream. If you read and watched movies of blind people, you'd catch on to myths suchs as The blind can see the future in which in term certainly must conclude to a dream, for such a thing to happen. (or even those nonfictional movies, they tend to conjure up dreams anyway.) It goes far deeper into that, but all that doesn't matter anyway. o.o

    I don't really see when I dream. I hear voices superimposed on darkness, and I form images on top of that, if that makes sense. I thought a lot about this when I was asked if I dreamt in colour or non-colour... so, why not? Just not in the sense that we would dream, with things we'd seen... :o

    I know for a fact that blind people dream. I read somewhere, that they don't dream inpictures, but instead in sounds, tastes, umm...touches? and smells. One blind person said: "I had a dream i was being chased by a dog. I heard the dog barking, I felt the dog's breath, And it was scary."
    Being the philosiphical person i am, and having an annoying ability to think myself in circles alot, this is one of the questions that i think about: What do you see if you are blind? Then i think: But if they are blind they CAN'T see! But then i think: THEN what color do they see? Brown, as if they closed their eyes? White? Black? But then i realise: They CAN'T see color. But then i think: What do they sdee then? and i start all over again.

    Its questions like these that always gets me thinking more and more. I've been going in circles about this one.

    After some thought, I believe that blind people do indeed dream. Not every dream, however, are just simply images in your mind. What I think is that those blind since birth only have dreams that has to do with sound, touch, and emotion. Others would dream of what they've seen when they had their sight, or of what they imagine a new object/person would look like, using what they have already.

    I'll begin to ramble if I continue further. e_e; I'll be thinking about this and fighting with myself all day...heh. Quite the interesting question.

    Well I doubt they can dream. Frankly speaking dreams are figmentations of something u have seen before (regardless of how long ago it was,) or something u encountered. And seeing as blind people cant see a single thing,let alone experience anything with their sight,well.. ya,u get where Im going.

    no i dont really see when i dream i kind think that is see, i had a vfery wierd dream last night, i woke up at 11am. But anyway ive never met a blind person b4 but i think that they dream too

    Hmm... tch, well dreaming is actually stuff that passes through tha conscient part of tha mind as tha brain sorts out what it's learnt durin' tha day, tch, so if a person's ever had sight before he or she went blind, then I guess so. As with ppl who're either blind from birth or have lost sight so long ago that they'z forgotten what it's like, I kinda doubt it.

    What's more, those who've never had sight's brains probably never even had tha chance ta make tha proper connections ta even be able to process visual, having never recieved visual stimuli...

    One thing I DO believe though, is that they canfeel touch and hear sounds ALOT mote often than we do... ^^;;;

    I guess with sight out of the way,the brain can use more its functions for other senses like hearing,touch,etc...
