I have a stable moveset, (Aromatherapy, Seismic Toss, Thunder Wave, and Softboiled), but EVs are giving me a headache. People keep saying to put all defense, but what physical attacks is it going to be stopping? Is 252 Sp. Def., 252 HP, and 6 Defense a good spread?

    No.

Seriously, it won't stop bliss from getting OHKOed by things like Close Combat from heracross, but other things will be shrugged off vs. a bliss with no Def EVs which takes 40% damage from a typhlosion's Thunderpunch vs. max Def blissey who takes 15%.

Yeah, It's defence stat won't be significant, but at least her HUGE HP will protect you somewhat.

Bold. It really does need all the defense it can get...it's THAT bad.

Why do you mock my n00b days?

And gleep, no because just as anti said, it can't take a physical attack and it doesn't reach it's potential. Maxed hp sounds nice, but bliss has 255 base hp, and it still goes down easily.

Mocking your n00b days? What are you talking about? O_o No, I remember...you said typhlosion was for blissey when then only physical attack was thunderpunch. Hey, it was the only example I could think of.

Seriously, it is also a process of elimination thing. It doesn't need SDef EVs unless it is for uber play, HP is given, and its other stats aren't needed (except sometimes SAtk), leaving Def. 10 base Def, even with all that HP, isn't going to be walling any phtysical attacks, so Def is a necessity.

When EVing a Blissey, max defense is an absolute must, it's needed, no way to get around it. Calm>Bold, really. Bold doesn't make much of a difference, unless you can come up with something that it desperately needs that minute amount of defense for. Calm and at least 56SpDef EVs will stop both SpecsGar Focus Blast and SpecsLuke Aura Sphere from 2HKOing you, guarenteed.

My personal favorite spread is 20HP / 252Def / 224SpDef / 12Spd @ Calm. Nothing on the special spectrum can even have a hope of even touching this.

I wouldn't say it's an absolute must (The Blissey with Substitute I thought about a little while ago doesn't exactly need Defense). Though it's necessary for the standard Blissey.
