Suggestion: Blog Comments in Notifications?

    I'm sure this idea has already been brought up at some point in the past and I'm not sure if it's even a practical possibility, but I think adding a notification category for comments on your blog entries would be an incredibly handy tool to have.

    In addition to the convenience of not having to go into your blog to check for new comments, it might increase traffic in the blog sector of the forums by notifying the poster to a blog that he or she may have forgotten about (and I've heard quite a few members say they often post blogs and then forget about them soon after).

    Also it'd be handy for when a person goes and posts comments in older blogs. I've gone and posted comments on some people's blogs that are months old and have always wondered if they ever saw - even though I know they probably haven't lol.

    Anyway again, not sure if it's even possible or if it'd be too much strain on the server (as seems to be the issue with a lot of suggestions) but it was just an idea so I thought I'd test it out!

    I thought there was an option for this. I remember a blog post CatDog had and he said it would notify him. Maybe check around the Blog CP for it?

    EDIT: Found it. n_n

    I've seen this suggestion pop up before, and once again, I 100% agree. I know I've had people comment on some of my older blogs and luckily, there's a thing in the sidebar for recent comments, and I just happened to notice someone commented an older blog. But honestly, I only noticed because of the username so I was just like "wait what?" so normally, it wouldn't have caught my eye. I'd love to see a notification for blog comments. I hate having to keep checking back into my blog. lol

    We have notification notices for "Invitations to join Blogs", yet not this. Honestly I also agree and instead of an option as such, we should just go into having notifications for blog comments. I'm not even quite sure people send members invites to join their blogs, or whatever that is supposed to be. :P

    I don't want anything emailing me from PC ever. Can't we just have a notification?

    I'm going to be the person against an idea today, just for the sake of it. /shot

    Uh, there are only like a few blog entries a day, and many don't ever really get 5+ comments either anyway. It's not that hard just check, even easier to click an old blog entry by going through your profile. So yeah, not needed?

    But the thing is...if someone's commenting on an older blog entry, then you would have to literally be looking through all of your entries on a nearly daily basis to catch the comment in a timely manner. If you really have the time to regularly comb through every single blog entry you've ever made, memorizing how many comments each had so you don't have to check every single one, etc., then you're lucky that you don't have a job or school or many blog entries, lol.

    There are no downsides to this, as far as I can tell. So I don't see anything preventing it from happening except for the current features being coded an implemented currently.

    I've been hoping for this function for ages! I've seen it suggested a time or two before and it seems to just fall into the great bitbucket below despite overwhelming support. Please, do something about this! If it's on some TODO list, give it a bump or something. I've been relying on emails and that's kind of annoying, that I have to constantly switch between PC and my email to keep eyes on my blog entries.

    Well honestly, all you have to do is look in the recent comments on the blog section of your profile, no matter how busy your life is.

    But honestly, I don't actually mind seeing this happen, even if I don't have a blog /which I want. ;.;

    Well, by your logic it would be just as convenient to not get notifications for VM's because you could just look at your profile. You know? Sort of setting a double standard.

    But yeah, I think anyone with a blog would find this useful, and if this goes through it might be more of a reason to donate to get a blog :]
