Suggestion: Box spoiler

The spoilers that are here now work great for hiding large walls of text and images. However, can there be bbcode that hides strings of characters until it is highlighted/hovered over?

    Just a suggestion.

Love that idea, tbh. As long as it's not used like:

Pokémon Black & White were released today, and I'm so excited. My favorite Pokémon of the new generation is Oshawott! It's so cute.

But that can be prevented (not entirely, though) by offering warnings and infractions for misuse of it. Along with that, this can be very easily implemented.

    ....Please, no.

I hate this type of text concealment mostly because it would be ugly, and VERY MOBILE UNFRIENDLY. I may not always use my mobile to browse PC, but I want to be able to read everything on PC. :/

The fonts and colors people sometimes use are occasionally ugly as well, but there still is the option to use them, and I don't see any complaints concerning that.

Same deal with [title] tags. They don't work well with mobile either, yet there's no complaints about those. It might cause a slight inconvenience, but if someone wants to read spoilers, then why not log on to the main site through a computer? Is mobile compatibility really that important of a function to PC?

I sound like I'm blowing this up to be PC's next killer app and that it must be added at all costs, don't I? But really, it's nothing important. Just a neat little tool I like on other sites and would be nice if it were implemented here.

Mobile compatibility isn't really that important for a primarily browser-based website. And I don't see why warnings would have to be issued for overusing it in a post... It's not like it's a terrible inconvenience to highlight ****.

There is a thread just below this one just about that (and why the Ignore Formatting option right now is ineffective), jsyk.

Clicking would be best for unconcealing it. Yuoaman, more and more mobile devices hit markets, pushing the mobile front closer and closer to being cheap and ubiquitous as your standard cellular phones these days are. I'd much rather not pack on things that discourage mobile users...because if you really get down to it, the title tag does the same function as this proposed idea does. It's just a matter of formatting the text so people know the title is there if you want them to know it.

There is also a little known tag called [textcollapse]
(Oddly there is a bug that prevents it from folding out if you enclose the tag in formatting tags, but that's easy to fix.)
