Have you ever had braces for your teeth? If so, tell your experiences.

I once had removable ones and I puked when they did the moulds of my wonky teeth.

I have had braces. I had them for a long time -- I got them in when I was about eight or so. At first it was just my four front teeth on my upper jaw, and a rubber or spring in the other wire (and boy, did the spring hurt my mouth. Ouch). My teeth had been pretty bad. My top row of teeth was behind my bottom row of teeth, and my upper jaw had to be expanded. Not only did I get braces, I had to get a device to expand my upper jaw twice, wore a retainer for a little bit, and I wore headgear twice (once just at night, one when I could).
As of now, I have a cemented bottom retainer and a removable top retainer, which I only wear at night. I don't have any appointments to go to the orthodontist. I'm pretty much done. Thank goodness.

I needed them because my front teeth were wonky and my top teeth were behind the bottom teeth. They were very uncomfortable. At least they worked.

no i've never had braces. My top teach are straight but my bottom ones arent. Its not worth paying all that money to get them for the bottom though

    no i dont
but there should be an option of no, but i should XD
but whats really funny is that i got an ad to "make your teeth better"

My teeth are almost all good but one, just one tooth might bugger that up. I had my new canine tooth growing over the old one & the old one refused to move. The dentist said I may need a brace. Not braces, brace. It still wouldn't come out so I pulled it out myself. The new tooth has started to go into normal position but I don't know if it will go right the way back.

Never had braces, really, so I can't exactly understand whatever pain it is my friends are going through/will be going through. ^^; I've always feared of getting braces when I was little, so I'd always take care of my teeth.

I had to wear braces for about five years, starting in fifth grade. Needless to say, they were a complete pain in the arse; I'll not elaborate on the torments I endured for half a decade, thank you very much. I finally got them removed during my sophomore year; I've been wearing a retainer ever since.

I had braces from third grade until last month. I have to wear a retainer now, which IMO is even worse than the braces -_-. You have to take them out whenever you want to even take a drink of something, and they're a pain to have to keep brushed and everything. At least in a few weeks I'll only have to wear them to bed ^^.

No I never had braces. I'm getting them though, *sigh* I don't really need them either, I have teeth that are proped up on my gums and people think they're vampire teeth. -_- I don't really need braces.

And last I heard, it was called "Metal Mouth" XD.

i was getting them but my dentsist said that they were ok but i want braces

My opinions on braces haven't changed since the last poll of this sort. I think they've gone from necessary device for the orally malformed to a trend created by dentists that rich children get to flaunt their richness. I'm perfectly fine with my somewhat-crooked teeth, thank you, and I don't think a $600 potato chip-proof wireframe is going to make me feel better about myself. If you need them for medical reasons, that's perfectly fine, but if otherwise it's a procedure that's only one step higher in necessity than a mid-twenties rhinoplasty.

Nope. never had braces in my entire life.

I'm getting some either this month or the next.My teeth are horribly out of order.
They're not in line whatsoever.I should have gotten braces since I was 9 or something, but I chickened out. And,earlier this year, when I wanted to get some braces,my mom said 'no' cause she thought the braces might effect my exam results or something. Now my exams are over,so....-_-
