Should Brock stay in the main cast for the next generation? I personally feel he adds very little to to it, all he ever does is cook, flirt, and give the occasional piece of advice. I would rather have the new Gen V guy added in the next series, and have a new random female character, or bring back Misty (I'm no Misty lover here but she was better than Brock). What do you think?

Apart from the over-the-top flirting with almost every girl he sees, including all the Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys, Brock is the most intelligent character in the show. He is a great cook, makes his own recipes and is a great breeder and knows a lot about Pokemon. I think he should stay.

Brock should leave, Misty back, Ash stay and new male character. Or Brock stays, Misty back, Ash stays and new female character. Or Brock leaves, Misty comes back, Ash stays and new female character. Or Brock stays, Misty comes back, Ash stays and new male character.

Anyway, if you don't get it. Misty is better than Brock. So, if there's no place for fourth character, Misty should be back and Brock can leave.

Between Brock and Tracy, I'd rather have Brock.

    Although honestly.. I'd rather see someone totally new be introduced. xD;

I think Brock is absolutely hilarious. So I don't want him to leave...

I wouldn't mind getting rid of Dawn, though.
We need the "first team" to appear again! ... You know 'Ash, Brock & Misty'.

    Better than Brock how?
No offense to any Misty lovers here, but Brock is ten times better than Misty. He might not get enough screen time, but he's extremely knowledgeable when it comes to certain things and he cooks! He's like Ash's personal PokeMart and PokeCenter and Love Specialist, but Ash is about as dense as a doorknob, so things like love and crushes go straight over his head. It's just Pokemon this, Pikachu that, and Team Rocket blah blah blah.

All Misty really did was hang around and freeload, she did nothing to contribute to the group. Ash had his battling thing and Brock was a Breeder. Sure, she had her once in a blue moon captures and once in a blue moon battles, but that was really it, she didn't do anything else, oh wait, that's right! She one that one contest or something or other and took care of a Togepi for 3 generations. But the writers wrote it off by having it evolve into a Togetic she couldn't keep, because it was 'The Chosen One.'

This is not tended to bash Misty, because I like her, but I'm just saying IMO, that Brock should stay, his Pokemon might be non-existent to the cameras, but I'd prefer him over Misty and maybe or eventually, they'll flesh out his status as a Breeder.

Can someone remind how Misty contributed to the cast anymore than Brock? >.>

Brock, Pikachu, and Team Rocket are like tattoos on Ash's body (What a lovely metaphor.) It's pretty much a fact that they will never be removed, and would be difficult to get rid of anyways. Believe or not, there are Brock fans too! O_O

IMO if Brock goes, Ash should go to. :3

So he cooks. Big whoop. Ash and Misty already handled both Viridian forest and the Orange Islands without his help and were fine (Heck, the former was before they even met.), plus he never even cooked when it was extremely vital that he did need to or make necessary preparations (like in "Pokemon Shipwreck"). And, love specialist? Doubt it. He basically jumped on any woman he found. It's already bad enough that we have Glenn Quagmire, Charlie Harper, Master Roshi, Krillin, Brody Mitchum, and the like in terms of that stereotype of heterosexual males that we're expected to act exactly like, and Brock's only making it worse. If his cooking was TRULY that important, then you can basically say that Ash and Misty died in Viridian Forest or Orange Islands due to his absence.

Actually, I have a huge list of how Misty did far more than just "hang around or freeload," since, even IF you weren't bashing Misty, that was still a very inaccurate statement. I suggest you prepare a huge meal and rest your eyes, since this is going to be very long:

She saved Ash in Episode 1, she was the person who came up with the idea of how to escape from the St. Anne, she was responsible for winning that money to fix Moe's port in Beauty and the Beach, she saved Porta Vista from the Tentacool/Tentacruel, she was the one who took care of that Gastly, she was the one who stopped JJM from invading the Fuschia gym, she was also the one who stopped the Backpack thief, she got Mikey to try and tell his brothers that he is to stick with Eevee, she was also the one who got Melvin off of his feet, she helped Jigglypuff regain its voice, she played a pretty vital role in regards to saving Ash from Aerodactyl (she was the one who suggested that Jigglypuff sing its song), she also won that Princess competition, she was the first person to find out that the Meowth was a fake, she stopped B&C's breeding scam and got Ash and co. out of Jail, she was the primary reason why Ash was able to battle Blaine (had it not been for her capability to solve riddles, I'll bet that Ash would not have faced him), she saved her sister's show from Team Rocket, she saved Ash and Brock during the first movie, she saved Ash during the second movie, she held off Molly for the third movie, she cured Ash, Tracey, and even Jessie from the stun spore fever, she had the Whirl Cup, she did that race, she was the primary reason behind Ash teaching at Violet school, as well as Ash getting back the GS ball, she was the primary reason why the Sunflora festival continued, she fought against Dorian (making her the first character other than Ash to challenge a Gym Leader, period), she saved that Marill, she tried to get Brock to go with Temaku, fought for Totodile, and a lot of things that I can't think of at the top of my head for the moment.

This is not tended to bash Misty, because I like her, but I'm just saying IMO, that Brock should stay, his Pokemon might be non-existent to the cameras, but I'd prefer him over Misty and maybe or eventually, they'll flesh out his status as a Breeder.

If they wanted to flesh out his status of being a breeder, they should have done it way back in Johto where they DID have breeding. Besides, I don't want a character who would end up being a bad influence to kids (his running gag, for example, is just in bad taste, and I've already stated why.).

Get rid of Dawn. >.< She irks me.
Then while doing that, they should bring back Misty. Just like the good old days.

    [insert Misty obsession]
Woah! That's some biased statements you made there.

Even if Misty did some heroism during her time with Ash & Brock, that doesn't mean that he is useless. He provides culinary meals, intelligent advices, and acts as the most oldest of the group. Yeah, he flirts a lot, but that's just a running gag that has been running for too long.

I suggest that he goes away for one season and comes back the next. It'll do his reputation and the Pokemon fanbase some good with a little bit of time off. Then, they could introduce two new characters in the new Generation, as the female protagonist always seem to walk away in the end.

Get rid of Brock? Without him God-Knows what could have went on with Ash and Dawn....

ummm... well... yeah, they could have been dead in a few weeks!... What did you think I meant? >_>

Besides, every anime needs a flirt.

The culinary meals is not a good enough reason for him to stay, though. Especially not after Ash and Misty's stay in Viridian forest and the Orange Islands saga. As for intelligent advices, so did Misty, and even Ash has done that, so that alone is just not good enough. Plus, he did end up being fooled by Team Rocket a few times (one of which was a blatant lie told by James.). Maybe his age would do that, but if I were a writer, and I only kept a character in just because he acted as the eldest of the group, I doubt people would care either way. For him to be part of the group, he needs to serve far more use. I'm not saying that he's useless, but I am saying that he so unused, it's not funny, and if they are not even going to bother doing that in a way that actually IS a good use (meaning, absolutely no contradictions to the plotline or is established that absolutely none of the characters can share this trait) then he must leave. And I only mentioned that list about Misty because someone implied that she served less use than Brock.

Another factor that really needs to be done in order for me to consider his staying is if Brock stops the whole going gaga over girls gag, as I don't want any more stereotypes of heterosexual males ruining us heterosexuals.

I suggest that he goes away for one season and comes back the next. It'll do his reputation and the Pokemon fanbase some good with a little bit of time off. Then, they could introduce two new characters in the new Generation, as the female protagonist always seem to walk away in the end.

I'll agree to that and even his staying as long as he meets two requirements:

    1. give him something where it is established in past, present and future that only he can actually do something for the group that absolutely no one else can do (and NO, Cooking does not count, due to OI and Episodes 3-4.).

    and

    2. get rid of that girl gag once and for all. As stated before, I hated that gag because it gives us heterosexuals a bad name, and it's happened quite a lot (Quagmire, Krillin, Roshi, Charlier Harper, all of those guys, they give us heterosexuals a very bad name, and even worse, now society expects us to act just like them in terms of our sexual instincts and treating women like pieces of meat to toss around or toys that can be replaced, or else we must be gay. It really makes me feel enraged and uncomfortable that we are in this situation.).

Get rid of Brock? Without him God-Knows what could have went on with Ash and Dawn....

ummm... well... yeah, they could have been dead in a few weeks!... What did you think I meant? >_>

If Ash was able to get through the Orange Islands and Viridian Forest without Brock (and in the case of the former, they never even met yet.), then he can certainly do well without Brock, period.

Besides, by the time DP ends, Dawn's going to leave anyways, so it's just Ash, anyways.

Besides, every anime needs a flirt.

the flirt issue is the exact reason why we Heterosexuals are placed in a very horrible position. I'm a virgin, I don't plan on having sex with a girl until I get married, I want to actually respect women, but as long as that stereotype/mindset of society exists, I'll still be plagued with society as a whole thinking that either a man has to sleep with or hit on countless women or that man is gay. It's sad times.

Funny, if that were true, then Ash and Misty definitely would not have survived the OI, and Ash and Misty would most certainly have died when they got into Viridian Forest.
