Brock's starter pokemon?

Hello guys i was watching the anime today and Ash and Dawn were talking to a new trainer about his starting pokemon piplup. They then mentioned who they started with and who they caught first. I then relized that to my knowledge weve never been told who Brock started with.

I'm guessing its a generation 1 pokemon because his gym's based in the Kanto region.

Have they ever mentioned or confirmed who he started with?

Yeah they did mention it I forget what episode. But either it was his 8th or 10th birthday, his father was at Brock's window with Onix, where Brock woke up, and rode Onix for a while, with them laughing and watching a sunrise.
