    Right, recently I've been interested in Pokemon recolors, if only because my scratch spriting is useless.​

    I thought I'd put my Pokemon recolours on here, see what more experienced pixel artists thought of them​

    Hmmm, well, I like them. They look pretty skillfully done, I just have three things to say.

    1, The 'spot' on Delcatty's head sticks out a bit too much. Just darken that colour a little.

    2, There are a couple of shading errors around Blaziken's and Persian's legs. They're nothing major, just make sure to cast a critical eye over your sprites before finalizing them.

    3, Stop doing recolours. Seriously. Maybe try a few splices, but move onto to edits as quick as possible. Just make more edits more and more drastic each time and eventually, you get a sprite that's as good as scratched.

    Hey, thanks for your opinions.

    1. Got it, I'll darken that down.

    2. I can't really see a major problem with Persian's leg-shading, but I know very little about shading. And I can see the problem with Blaziken's legs. I'll try and sort that out soon.

    3. If I was majorly serious about pixel art (for example, to make Pokemon for a hack or whatever), then I certainly would make some more edits, or scratch Pokemon. But as it stands, I'm much too busy to do anything major, so recolouring and splicing will be my main thing xD

    Speaking of which, a completely random Pokemon fusion:

    Also, I know that there's the awful-looking discolouring of the background, but I don't know why that is. Maybe because I saved them in JPEG format :| I know it's not good, but if I saved it as anything else, the palettes wouldn't look right :/

    EDIT: after learning that .png is the best file type to save in, I will do all my future Pokemon in .png format, to make em look all nice :D

    And I've also made a Vulpix/Growlithe/Dratini splice, because I wanted to be ambitious :D

    EDIT: All previous posts will now be updated. .png files instead of .jpeg :)

    I now have a Wailmer/Butterfree splice. Not too hard, all I did was add wings O_O Yay, procrastination!

    My personal favourite is the 'Pikachar', as I call it :D

    But does anyone have anything else to say??
     
    The Smoochum's eyes are really off but the rest Is really great, May I suggest taking the D/P/P eyes and adding them onto the G/S/C Sprite. :)
     
    Yeah, I noticed the eyes were a tad off.. I should be able to sort it out, soon.

    In the meantime, UPDATES!! (I do this very often xP)

    I agree, the Espeon/Articuno/Salamence splice came out very nicely! Might I suggest moving the wings up more on the back though?

    Yeah, I understand what you mean, and I thought that myself.. but I tried it, and it didn't look right (to me, anyway), so on the butt it goes xD

    I'm really happy with my 'Salarteon'
    Yeah, couldn't think of an inventive name for it ^^

    The Celebi's a bit bright because that's the colour palette that was used for G/S/C Celebi, but I can understand that it would look a bit bright...

    Any more C&C's on the others.. does anyone have a favourite/least favourite and why??

    However, Celebi's right hand looks a little awkward, and something about Vulpix's leg urks me, but I can't think what....
    Anyway, apart from that, they look great! :D

    The devamps DO look a little weird, but I think that might be because of the D/P/Pt poses I used.. I never liked Vulpix's pose.. looked like it was about to 'mark its territory'

    But thankyou. Any comments on the others I've put up??
     
    Nice devamps and the Vulpix one looks so real and I really like the Celebi devamp as well, I am loving the devamps do some more please. :D
