Bug and Psychic/Dark

Since the beginning of the days I've played Pokemon, I've wondered by Bug was super effective on Psychic Dark.

This thread is for you to post your ideas on why you think it is. Or if you think the developers were drugged and accidently placed it in.

It was most likely an issue of balance. Otherwise, Psychic and Dark would generally be mildly overpowered while bug would be terribly underpowered. XD

Bugs do have a tendency to creep people out and the psychological torture therein can break a psychic's concentration. :P

Only thing I can think of for Bug > Psychic is that bugs can mess up your trance. Dark types being weak to bugs...I don't even know. Like Timbjerr said, it's just a balance thing.

I dunno, I think of bugs in general as nocturnal for some reason and yeah I think pretty much what tmbjerr said and along the lines of bugs crawling and stinging psychics... Yeah I've always seen bugs as night time creatures, so it makes sense for dark for me, lol.

Hmmm...makes sense...if they come out in the dark...they have a certain aura of "control" over it, don't they? In that they don't have a natural fear like lots of humans (and I'm sure a lot of animals too, actually), not that they summon it.....

And bugs > psychic makes perfect sense.

It's also definitely an issue of balance....in Gen II they removed Bug's super-effectiveness over Poison, leaving it advantageous only over Psychic and Grass....for a type with such common weaknesses, it needs the advantage over 3 types...so it made sense to make it strong over a new type, I guess! And after all, nobody could accept bug being strong against steel...so dark got a 2nd weakness!
