2nd Gen Bug Catching Contest: Strategies

The Bug Catching contest was one of the most memorable parts of GSC. Which was your go to bug? Did you try and catch the rare bugs or just go for a high level one and hope for the best? What was your strategy?

I know I personally didn't bother with any high level bugs. It was Scyther or Pinsir all the way for me... and I still consider Scyther cool and rare now lmao. Pinsir was ruined by Go :(

I remember Scyther, Pinsir, and Beedrill being my go-to Pokemon in the Bug Catching Contest. The only real strategy that I had was to try and catch the Pokemon at full health, since I seemed to get a lot more points that way. I know I won once or twice catching a Paras at full health over someone else's Pinsir, haha.

I can't really remember who used to win it for me. Most likely Scyther, Pinsir or Beedrill. I think I even won with something unexpected once or twice.
