4th Gen Cameos?

Well Hoenn is supposed to follow the Kanto timeline, and saying that, it would more than likely have a Gen. 4 cameo.
 
Five bucks says that the wandering stone collector Steven goes hunting for some elemental stones and has a hard time finding them in Johto.
 
^ With that being said, as cool as it may sound I just don't see that happening in my opinion. Not unless they put more into it besides jsut simply stone collecting anyway.

Somewhere (cannot remember the source), it said that he supposedly just left Sinnoh. Say he ran into Jasmine beforehand (both Steel trainers; they understand each other or something), well--it's a few in a thousand chance, but speculation doesn't hurt. And, seriously, stone collecting is all that fuels that enigmatic man to travel around--wouldn't be too surprising for them to pull something like this. Nobody saw Jasmine coming.
 
Here's what I summed up in my opinion:

These things Shouldn't be making a cameo appearance:

-> The news of lakes drying up is going to mess up the timeline, so I don't want them to be there. But I doubt there being an actual Timeline anyways.

-> Volkner, Flint and any gym leader from Sinnoh or Hoenn shouldn't make an appearance. They don't seem to have any fit reason, and the ones fron Hoenn could put the R/S/E fans on fire for a remake, which I think shouldn't be made until ethe end of fifth gen; or if the series ends, then at the end.

These things Might be making a cameo appearance, or should be making one:

->Professor Rowan could appear, as according to the beginning of D/P/Pt, he was in Kanto doing something. But if he makes an appearance, he'd just talk to you, but not do something special like up-grading the dex, since we already have Oak doing that for us.

-> Giovanni could appear...

-> Cynthia, for getting the secretpotion.

-> I'd like to see Steven make a cameo appearance to give you the HM Dive, if it existed, as it would be uber cool to have dive spots!


-> And FINALLY, (I've been putting some thoughts into it the other day) a new 5th gen legend should make a short appearance, maybe as a shadowy figure. It'd be awesome to have one do that, and make people more exited about the 5th gen.

If you think about it...

Volkner could be with Jasmine in the Lighthouse, as a 'Love' sort of thing.

I also think that Rowan should be there at the start, just visiting elm before he goes back to Sinnoh.

I wouldn't say all he might do is talk, because seeing as the PokéRadar was in DPPt, it wouldn't surprise me if he showed up to give you just that. It wouldn't be bad to have either. It'll give those who never got DPPt a chance to chain and get shinies of their own, or simply to help with EV training as well for competitive gaming.
 
Steven is also a good point, since we "may" have underground on this remakes, so, as a stone and fossil collector he would induce you to visit the underground or even giving you the starter kit.
Note that this is just my speculation.

Also, Volkner does have reasons to go to Johto, although Flint and the other gym leaders doesn't, he is "linked" to Jasmine either you want or not.


About Rowan, as a good friend of Oak, he could perfectly be on Kanto at some point, and giving you an extra device/feature (This game is said to have new features never seen before, so).

With supposedly 'never seen before' features, then I guess we can expect even new characters that can show up as well, perhaps.

Anyway, now that it is mentioned, having Steven introduce the Underground wouldn't be such a terrible idea either, it'll make a lot of sense if it were made that way. Especially seeing how he enjoys his rock collections and stones and such.

Steven? I never really thought about that but since he is interested in rock things and he was found in Dewford Cave, it could've been cool to see him in the underground.
 
I think that Mask of Ice should definately make an appearance- maybe because I enjoyed beating Pryce and would like to do it twice. (Rhymes- lol- how sad!!). Possibly Norman (moved from Johto), Professor Rowan (was staying in Kanto), Riley (went off training) and some coordinators like Fantina, Wallace, Juan and DP Protagonist's Mom. Also, just randomly, your mom should be some sort of Pokemon Coordinator or Trainer Legend. (Just for fun)

Now, cameos are definitely a great addition, but some just aren't really needed. I mean Norman, a great Gym Leader in Hoenn, but what would be his main purpose in traveling to a region so far away? To see the next Normal Type Gym Leader? That won't be really necessary and I wouldn't expect it too much. Professor Rowan seems likely as he was in Kanto for sometime, plus he knows Professor Oak as old friends. He also seems like a possible candidate to give us a needed item later on, such as the PokéRadar again, like I've stated before. Riley, even if he could show up to give us another Riolu, I don't see him coming back. Him going off for more training to me sounds like in other places in Sinnoh rather than all over the world at that point. Fantina, she likes contest and she's a Gym Leader there near the Contest Hall, I only see a possible chance of hers showing up if they introduce contests to the Johto. Wallace and Juan, er, they have a chance, but I don't think it might happen because of how many other people they can choose. They apparently like to be pretty random as how we saw Jasmine in Sunyshore which was pretty inexpected. Though, anyones got a chance, just some more than others, and basically for some twisting reason as well.

i can't remember the "timeline" of them all, i just know kanto before johto, and kanto before sinnoh.

i'd like to see professor birch, sure he was chubby & rough looking, but i preferred him to that miserable old coot called rowan. but yea, an appearance from any of them would be cool
as you see oak at Mr pokemon's house, Elm gives you the starter.
birch could come along and give out a hoenn starter, as with the dsi coming in its gonna be increasingly hard to get them, though the same can be said for Gen I starters.
either way i wanna avoid rowan, he's my least fave.
Elm - 'cos he gives you the best starters (imo)
Oak - close 2nd, just 'cos hes so cool

mm, i like the idea of norman, he could've been goldenrod's previous gym leader and left whitney her miltank, or helped her catch it (like he helped wally catch a ralts).
jasmine wasn't THAT random if you think about it logically,
electric gym leader (jasmine had a magneton...), both sunnyshore and olivine were built at the ocean's edge and both had a lighthouse.
i'd like to see Joanna appear (if contests are involved in HG/SS).
Didn't maylene mention something about training with Chuck in cianwood city, she could appear there? (not sure if thats actually correct, i might've dreamt that or something lmao, or brawly was mentioned, but i swear she or someone else said she trained with someone from a different region).

Yes, I would think the Johto time in the game happens like a few weeks before Sinnoh in DPPt takes place. The reason why I say this is because the reference of Elm and the egg back in Hearthome City. It was said an egg was discovered there before, so I would say Sinnoh was a little bit behind. If this is so, then it'll definitely make it a possibility of Rowan making a cameo in the game.

Birch, I'd see him coming only for a possible reference to the Hoenn remakes, but it was stated recently that GameFreak isn't looking at making nay new remakes at the moment. Plus, I don't think GameFreak really cares of the personality for who would to show up, that'll just be the fan base who cares more on those things. GameFreak is more intended to show someone that'll have a purpose to be there and more than likely reference to something else that could have a possible matter later on [/sometimes not though]. Having a simple appearance from someone though will be a plus afterwards as it'll be new and maybe add in some new twists for the players.

For the starters, it shouldn't be considered hard to get as yet, because we can still have accessible trade with the DS and DSi. So, those who have a previous Hoenn or Kanto starter in RBE or FRLG, can migrate it from the DS into DPPt, and then afterwards be traded to HeartGold and SoulSilver. I don't think this will matter much though as the Hoenn starters aren't as popular or as uncommon sometimes compared to Kanto starters. Which for one Kanto is right next to Johto, so it'll seem more probably to gain one of those starters over one given by Birch.
 
It would be interesting to see someone like Palmer there. Although I have a feeling it might be a generation 3 character. Well, who knows. We'll have to find out.

i don't think that norman will have a cameo but i think somewhere in a house somebody will say: Before he moved to the Hoenn-Region a pretty good gymleader lived here. ^^
btw. maybe steven will come to see the white stone in kanto (that one oak mentioned in the shaymin event

do feel like Jasmine will have a bigger role
in HG/SS than in the old Gold and Silver.
This is because of her appearance in

You make a good point about Jasmine. Except, I don't see any need for her to get much attention to just because of her visit to Sinnoh. Actually, come to think of it, if Gold and Silver's timeline were a few weeks before that of Sinnoh's then Jasmine would have never visited Sinnoh at that time. So, she wouldn't be mentioned as visting Sinnoh and neither would she be given a bigger role. For contest, I see the supporting female intrducing that to us for some reason. If not her, then maybe another surprise cameo, like said before Fantina. This would make sense as Fantine as gone off to contests and exploring around before coming back to the Sinnoh Hearthome Gym as well. Though, it's a bit sketchy, anyone has the chance of making a cameo, but I think there are only a selective few who have a higher chance at it. For example, one being said already, Professor Rowan.
