Can I collect most of the Pokemon with these games owned

    I have played the game off and on over the years but recently my interest has been renewed enough that I would like to see how many of the little fellows I can collect.

    I don't have all of the games, but how many of the total number can I collect with these games. And maybe a suggestion for perhaps one other game to maximize my collection if needed.

    Pokemon Crystal ( old Gameboy cartridge..still playable however on my Gameboy Advance)
    Pokemon Emerald
    Pokemon Heart Gold ( Do I even need to play Crystal if I play this one )
    Pokemon Sun ( will be buying in the next few weeks along with a 3DS XL purchase )

    I believe I need Pokemon Black or White to get my earlier Pokemons to Sun to have all my Pokemon in one place. . Is this also correct. I already have a DS and will shortly have a 3DS XL so transferring will be possible.

    I don't know if you know this, but you cannot transfer Pokemon from Crystal anywhere. (I'm only saying that if your plan was to transfer them up)

    You might get Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen to get the kanto Pokemon, and Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum to get the Sinnoh Pokemon. You will also need Pokemon Black, White, Black 2, or White 2. You also need to find a way to get the version exclusive Pokemon you can't get. (I recommend using the GTS)
     
    With Crystal you won't be able trade anything afraid, there's no way to transfer anything from Gen 2 games so you're right with going with HeartGold.
     
    OK.. thank you. So that confirms what I thought was the case. Even though all these Pokemon are available in the Pokedexes of later games. You still have to have a game from that generation to get those Pokemon. They are not roaming the world. For example 6th generation Pokemon game only has 6th generation Pokemon available in the game itself. Pokemon Sun for example does not have every Pokemon ever roaming its game world. Are there any that have Pokemon from more than 1 generation in their game world.

    I pretty much need a game from each generation if I want to collect most of the Pokemon it looks like.

    Actually if Im remembering this correctly.....I think if you can collect all the pokemon within the 6th Gen games except for event mons like Meloetta. So by playing and trading with X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (especially for lengends) you wouldnt need one game from each gen.

    You would need a 6th gen game anyways because of Pokebank to get what you have already to Sun.

    Facepalm! x___x ignore the crossed out idiot advice above. You wouldnt need a 6th Gen Game to use Pokebank. You would only need at least a Gen 5 game to use it. Been out of the loop for toi long.
