Spinoff/Mobile Can someone please explain to me how Research Breakthroughs work?

So, I got 7 stamps and received one of those package things, apparently it's called a Research Breakthrough, but I started the encounter before I was ready - yes, I know, not smart - and failed to catch the bestowed Latias. So, I thought I'd missed out on the chance to catch it, but the "CLAIM REWARD!" button is still there. It's been, like, weeks - I haven't touched it, because I have no idea how it works. Do you get unlimited chances to catch your Research Breakthrough Pokemon, or at least multiple chances? Or is there some other reason the button is there? I can't find anything about this online. Please help. 😣

I think the only limit to Research Breakthrought catches is how many pokeballs you have.
If you run out, you can exit the encounter and it will stay in your research screen until you stock up and try again.
It's basically just a question of when you catch it and how many Balls/Berries it will eat up before doing so.
They are a guaranteed catch otherwise.

Yep, if you leave the battle you can go back to it anytime. The Pokémon can't flee, so all you need are balls to catch it and time. You can keep leaving and come back when you have more balls if you're running out mid capture. =) Only downside to keeping the breakthrough for a while is you can't claim your next one after the next set of seven days until you catch the previous one.
