2nd Gen Chances of finding a shiny?

Im playin pokemon crystal right now, and ran into a shiny miltank earlier today(accidentally killed it...). SO! Does anyone know the probability of finding another shiny? I know the chance for all the other pokemon games, but is it the same for crystal, silver, and gold?? Thanks! :D

Shiny Pokemon rates have always been 1/8192. It was calculated differently (through IVs, not Secret ID/Trainer ID), but the number remained the same.

The only difference is the breeding process, where in Gen II a shiny parent had a higher chance of making a shiny offspring.

really? always have been 1/8192?? i thought because they were calculated by IVs, i figured it would be a lower number...man, im looking for a shiny natu for my crystal team right now, and ive been looking for 30 mins. **yawn** gettin tired, LOL...

I've never found a shiny :( so I guess they are REALLY REALLY rare. I wish I would find one just once!

It's been a long time for me, but wasn't there a method to make your chances better, it was called chai ing, you need an item, the pokeradar (?)....
