Character Hate, a PokeSpecial Ranting Thread

/bow, thank you for all your constructive critisism, sorry if my first lenghtly ost seemed a bit harsh

Then again, this IS a ranting thread, defend your rants all the same...go on, I'm not stopping you, even if I dont have the power to

Idealists, i do not like that, I strongly believe that everyone should be entitled to each and everyone of their opinions. I just happen to like those two particulary two-dimensional characters that you soo dislike (Notice that I did not use any other more severe words, like, say hate, or despise)

Oh, And Yellow is the only Canon Sue that I like, because Sue sounds repulsive to me, and Yellow sounds heckalot nicer than Sue.

Lance...is an idealist, not some Ph33rfu|_ @$$|-|0|_3 w1t|-| $p3c1@|_ ph33rs. (HA, translate THAT) I prefer someone who takes a more active role in cleaning up the world, though a two-dimensional goal it may be. It just so falls that such a singular goal lead to such a singular character that people now feels sterotypical. If Lance would just take a vacation, then we might just be able to see some third-dimensional traits to him..

...BUT NOOOOO, he MUST stick to Cerise Island, a singulary bleak and pointy petrified turtle shell with no one to entertain him except a old hag, a muscleman and a hot chick (wait, that cannot be right...)

That ends my turn of debate for lance, now, onto yellow.

Yellow has the same little 2D goals that lead to her rather meek innocently 2D personality, yes. With rescuing Red and all...same thing, look.

-->Rescue someone(Red)-->Meets someone else who is a dragon-training b@d@$$(Lance--> meets up with rescuees former team (plus rival) and tryies to pwn Lances a$$--> fights mastermind in a climatic setting, ending up with the demise of said mastermind and evading the doom of the world--> doom of the world became the savior of the world, blessing them with many flowers and a bountiful harvest.

Does that sound familiar? Good.

Anyway, happy to find someone what can debate on a subject with me (AT LAST) with superior wording and spellcheckers, I have no want of this to escalate into a flame war, hear that? Good, and thank you very much.

Last thing, Spamming. I recieved such when I went to a forum where people there are very tight-knit and use forums more like an instant messenging service. They are so nice to have even included tags that say:

Spam Novice
Spam ANBU
Spam Genius
Spam Yondaime

How very nice of them, instead of responding to a post in half a day, they take half an hour.

How do you understand why I use "Spam"?

Correct, which would make your character preferences more idealistic than mine. And tell me that "to sunder the world to quarantine the infection(Us, humans)" and "But I really think the world would benefit from those Mary Sue sterotypes" aren't idealistic statements. But whoever said idealism was bad? If you feel that "idealist" a derogatory terms, then I can't imagine why you like either Yellow or Lance. I'm a realist, which extends to my character preferences, and so I do indeed find idealists and idealism offensive. But that's just my opinion. There are lots of people out there who would contend that idealism, including idealism as represented by the archetypes of the angelic Sue and the noble bada$$, is a very good thing. And just going by what you said in the above quoted post, I figured you were one of those people whom *I* personally (being a realist to the extreme) consider silly, but whom others would find perfectly sensible.

All Canon and Mary Sues are repulsive as far as I'm concerned, but it's true that Yellow has more silly moments that make her a bit less Sue-ish than some of the other Sues I have seen. And she's matched by Red's Gary Stu-ness, so it's not like she's the only one who's almost sickeningly overly kind to her Pokemon, since Red was the one who told her how to treat Pokemon.

As far as I'm concerned YellowArc!Lance is a combination of Don Quixote and Hitler. Like Don Quixote, he has this fantasy that he is bringing justice and righting all wrongs to the world when in fact he is simply living a delusion, and like Hitler, he's so high on his egotistical power-trip that he figures, hey, since I have all this power, let me reach my goal via mass murder! Anyhow, if you want to see my idea of a more three-dimensional version of manga!Lance's character, you'll have to wait for my fic (which nicoleb is also waiting for, sorry about taking so long! ^^). Which won't be done for a while, though I might put up the first chapter in a few weeks.

*LOL* ^_^ Actually, the GSC arc has him off of Cerise, but he's still being a weird@$$ recluse/hermit. Which isn't much better.

Ahhh, time to turn my spare time into blatantly cursing the most weird and (perhaps extraordinary) hero ever to grace the pokespecial manga, EMERALD

DUM DUM DUMMM DUMMMMMMMM!!!

Emerald, in my own opinion, is the most anti-climatic hero to ever grace the pokespecial comic frames, no doubt special and a breather deviation from the standard "Ohh, I love the world and therefore must erase any unstable elements like the OPPOSING FACTION!!!" people

sure, Ruby and the rest are all different in relative terms of character, but they all fight for the same thing in the end. Same here, but the journey is set to be a lot longer and more radical.

Ohh, I woun't mind such a character, but it's the design and image of the character than degrades it in my eyes (and most probably the mind and the rest of the body). I mean, who wants to carry a gun? Does the pokemon world even have a standing army? The gun has no obvious feature BUT a bubble nozzle who is more for show than for efficiency, no ammunition feed to speak of, no known forms of ammunition calibre and type. No sights, iron or electronic, looks more like a decorative item than a fearsome weapon that says "F3@|2 |\/|3!!!!!111one". he also fires it like a toy, and whoever fires a live firearm in public at a large group of people? It just screams "Homicidal Badass that is trying to meet up to his homicidal badassy expectations"

HE EVEN OPENS FIRE ON SOME UNDEFENDED SCIENTIST! WTF!!! Imagine what the world woud be like if Bill is dead!

Overall, the gun looks like it came out of the Barney show.

His hairstyle makes it look more like a rich and deserving target for my cool American standard issue OICW assault rifle. The fact that it's blond in colour just so happens to enlarge the target and make it more visible. I hate them, especially when he has no pokemon to date that he officially owns (steaks one maybe?) He'll, until then, most likely just shoot any ****ing pokemon or trainer that comes his way because he wants to WIN THE **** BATTLE!. His hairstyle irks me more than the rest.

Now, clothes. Green, good combination of camouflaging colours. But it looks more like everlasting puke on his clothes. What's more, it stands out in a forested enviroment. ugh.

His sleeves are also something to behold. Long sleeves that will only impede the summoning of the pokemon from the pokeball. BAD MOVE.

Lalalala, needless to say, this character is the "standard" deviation and perhaps the mirror image of the normal characters. but he is still two-dimensional to my eyes, unless the storyline dictates that he changes, but then the storyline will be following the "Badass turns Goodass" plot.

Overall, he is a puny character in my eyes that rivals Kiba (naruto) in brashness. But Kiba wins there because he has a dog and all the other emeraldiy blind-haired man has is a toy gun.

I don't exactly know the characters all that well, but for some reason, I find it stupid that they weren't given actual names. I would very much like to know the official Japanese names of characters like Ruby, Silver, etc.

I never said the series/characters were stupid...I said the idea was stupid. And really, it kinda is...real names work better than colours, I'd say. I have nothing against the manga itself, though.
 
Here's the thing with the names:

Red - can be a real name. (Also because of his eyes)

Green (male) - is because of his eyes

Blue (female) - (short for Bluey, probably. The Japanese pronouncation for Blue is something like "bu-u". (Also because of her eyes)

Yellow de Tokiwa Gorobu - is a very long name. (?) Yellow is her shortened name. And the name "Yellow" came from her hair, I think

Gold - is because of his

Silver - is not his real name. He doesn't know his real name yet. (Blue named him Silver because of, you guessed it, his eyes)

Crystal - or Crys for short is the most commen of them all. (Her eyes are also crystal in color)

Ruby - is a girl's name. Maybe it is adding to the joke of how girlish he is, and how boyish Sapphire is. (His eyes are ruby-colored)

Sapphire - is because of her eyes

Mitsuru - is the only name not based off a color

Emerald - is also a girl's name. (But the name is because of his eyes)

To tell the truth, I much rather the Anime names: Satoshi, Shigeru, Kenta, Nanashi, Marina, Yuuki, and Haruka. But dub-wise? I'd rather colors.

Isn't this a thread about what characters you hate? O_o
 
Their named after the Pokemon games? I don?t recall them ever calling Blue ?Bluey?? O.o and they pronounce it ?Buru?, because of the whole ?L? and ?R? thing. Crys, is Crystal?s real name, and her eyes are purple? o_o and there?s a male chef named Emerald? *cough* way off topic.

I wouldn?t really say there?s any character I hate, per say, I never liked Ruby too much, he just rubs me the wrong way for some reason, and I still think Lance is over rated. ;/

Cookie cutter characters are dull, Gold's immature and glory-loving attitude, Blue?s sassiness and constant thieving, and Green?s anti-social nature makes them more interesting IMO, and I like Emerald, even if he is funny looking, in his defense, he's "nymph-like". XD

I said; "probably", not that she was named Bluey. "Bu-uu" is because they can't pronounce "L" very well.

I should update on a new character I don't like. Ruby. Ugh... He's just really started to annoy me lately. That and his radio drama voice sounds stupid and "scottish/Japanese" (and snobby).
 
Um.. I Haven't Read very Far Into The Pokemon Special Sieries Yet.. But... From What I've Read So Far...um.... I Don't Like Machisu Much... Um.. Not A Fan Of Green Either... Um. Natume Seems Like A B*tch...I Didn't Like What Erika Did To Red Either. uh..That's all I Can Think Of for Now. ^^ Oh Yeah. And Kyou.

Silver.I hate that guy,i don't know why but my gut says he's awful.
I don't know when it was since i started hating him,i was liking him a little,but then,something dragged me into hating the boy again.Forgot what though.
Oh well,if i hate him that's how it goes.

I mean outside the manga. Y'know, like how Satoshi, Kenji, Shigeru, etc. are the official names of Red, Gold, and Green, respectively (and in most other forms of Pok?mon media).
