well, im writing a PCA fanfic, and I want to know if Stunkys\Skuntanks stink or not.

I would assume not, since they are meant to resemble skunks, but, then I noticed that the whole thing is so inconsistent.

In the anime, one episode, Team Rocket is hiding out in a shed, while someone sends out his skuntank to get them out. They had to see it before they even knew that it was there, so in the series, they don't.

Then, I was playing Pokemon diamond, and PMDEoT, and i noticed that he has the stench ability in diamond, and people in PMD are complaining about a being "weakened by a stench" or (something like that) AFTER your first confrontation with the leader of team skull. Also, when it is announced that team skull would be joining the expedition, Loudred complains that he stinks, so they do in the games.

    What gives?

If you think about it, when you come across a skunk, they never really stink unless they release their overwhelming odor. In other words, before you actually say a Skunk stinks, it has to spray out its distinctive smell before really sensing anything at all.

The same result would apply for Stunky/Skuntank as well. If it is let alone and nothing is to disrupt it, then it would smell normal like almost anything else around. However, if it were to be put into fright or made angry (or even told to do so) it may release its strong odor making the smell linger for about 24 hours. If it were a Skuntank, then the released odor could be smelt from 160 feet away, or so said by the PokéDex.

I knew that. That was what confused me, because i know that skunks don't stink... I guess you just made the assumption that i was as uneducated as all of the other common city kids... lol. As i said, the whole pokemon is just so inconsistent. i thought nintendo was uneducated to the biology of a skunk like most people, thanks to Warner Bros.

i bet that if a skunk could talk that he wouldn't come from France... Then again it may be a statement, as i have heard before... wow lots of rambling on...

I do agree, Pokémon does have some common flaws that can confuse someone. There are certain characteristics of Pokémon that remain inconsistent from the PokéDex's definition, to the anime, and the games of the franchise. Like Stunky's case, it shows a little loop whole in the cycle of the game, anime, etc. but then again nothing is ever perfect.
