My answer on that topic is: Of course! :D When I first got Red I picked Chamander, and once I got him to Charizard I owned pretty much the rest of the game.
It's really all a matter of training them good to win with your favorites.

I got yellow first so i could'nt get charmander till i got to curelean city. but when i got him i could own everything with him. Since the were no IV's or EV's in yellow is felt good just to go through it with charizard.

Hmm I'm not really certain about Charizard's age either, but he acts like he's older than Ash. Which could explain why he didn't want to listen to him.
Either that or he was just behaving like a rotten brat! :)
So, yeah I'm not real sure.

Charizard isnt older then Ash.

Ash found Charmander when he was 9?
The trainer abandoned it because it wasnt strong enough.
I think that says charmander was very young when it happend 1 yr old or less
How old is ash now? just take away how many yrs ash has aged from the start and thats what i think his age is.
