4th Gen Chimchar,Turtwig or Piplup

I chose Piplup probably for the main reasons of being water and being a penguin. And wiping though the second and third elite four later with just him.

I pick Chimchar.

1.Excluding Ponytas, not many Fire-Type are in Sinnoh.

2.If you train it to an Infernape, you can stand a chance at Empoleon(Steel isn't weak against Fighting) and just KO Torterra.

3.Great KO'er with that Attack stat because it's lots of its move are physical.

4.Speedy in case there's trobule.

5.After evolution, you can KO the 1 and 2 people of the Elitle Four.

6.Sinnoh has a lot of Wild Grass Pokemon, so it's helpful.

5. Even thoguh its hard to level up, you can still train in the Eterna Forest with Cheryl because her Chansey auto heals your Pokemon after a battle there( that's why it's a good place to train any Pokemon).

You stated it being "cute" twice. Also "Its The Best" isn't really an appropriate factor? However, I do agree with it being a wise choice for the Pokémon League's Elite Four.

Obviously Piplup, it's got awesome moves, and when it's fully evolved it has resistance to many other types!

Since I picked Piplup last time I played, I wanted to pick someone different. I went with Turtwig, and I'm might happy with Torterra, but boy...I just cannot take his weakness to Ice. It's pretty much a death sentence for him. Empoleon's resistances are really what sets him apart from the rest.

It's not a stupid reason IMO. Considering you can get through the game incredibly easy with any of them, aesthetics isn't a bad criterion.

well in my case i chose turtwig i love turtwig is so cute and i don't like chimchar and piplup much and i knew that if i started with turtwig the game will be more fun i had to work really hard to beat the elite four and i don't like rapidash thats why i went to the league with out a pokemon who knew fire attacks but it was a lot of fun proving to my friends that empoleon and infernape don't stand a chance against torterra

I have picked every water starter since R/B/Y. So, I picked piplup. Like always didn't have any trouble with any gym leaders or the E4, which i beat with none of my pokemon higher than lvl. 53. I did get turtwig and chimchar off the gts though. For some reason I liked it too. THe speed and power was nice. Turtwifg was kinda cool, but it seemed to not be a good starter b/c there are really no good grass atacks that aren't special, so its stats seemed a bit out of place but that's just me. But everyone has their preference right?

Unless of course you just teach Empoleon Ice Beam in which case it will 1) Go first because it's faster and 2) Kill Torterra in one hit.

How so? Does his Infernape have a higher Speed stat? Or does he use a Fighting type move? Normally one hit from Brine or Hydro Pump and Infernape is defeated?

It has a higher speed stat and it knows close combat.
