Lol, believe it or not, it's true! Pokémon will no longer be on prime time, illuminating the tv screens of the 250 million children in china. It said that the Chinese government has placed this conditional ban not only on Pokémon, but other foreign animation institutions such as the Simpson's, and Disney. So why is China being such a butt-heaD? Well it seems as if a lot of the Chinese animation studios are really really struggling to survive. Much of the cartoons children watch in China (and for that mater across the world) are from Japan, The United States and other foreign countries. What the Chinese government has done is open up the prime time slot (5pm – 8pm) solely to cartoons made only in china.

It kind-of sucks that Pokémon has been banned but i doubt the three hour block is going to do much to dampen the kids lusting for Pokémon.. after all, reruns play all day XD

    Oh my...that is terrible! How can the Chinese Goverment do this? Pokemon isn't really bad, it is totally great! Man, they just want thier animation to shine. And not anyone elses...I don't think it isn't going to survive. Before long they will have to lift the ban. But that is wishful thinking. I feel sorry for the Chinese children...they won't get to see new episodes of Pokemon anymore. ;o;

Its only banned from 5:00pm to 8:00pm so pokemon can easliy be aired at 8:00

    More like japan....

no i think they banned all these shows (I saw it on the news the other day)
and that prime time slot is just where pokemon and other shows usually did air.

I think its horrible..first New VA's in America and the possibility of it not coming on again and now now its banned in China... I feel sorry for them and wish some parts of the goverment/television stations of all areas were more like Japan since they are not keen on replacing Voice Actors and keep a good sereis when they have it.

who airs pokemon at night?? Im used to it being on in the afternoons after school or saturday mornings. well now that cartoon network has its hands on it I guess it will be on all the time.

    To bad for them.
If I had no pokemon or simpsons I wouldnt know what to do.

Man thats brutal for Chinese kids and Poke lovers =(
They really should sort out their own anime instead of removing everyone elses -.-.

Boomerang airs an hour of Kanto reruns at around 10PM each night.

Anywho, back on topic, China's been known to do things like this before if I'm not mistaken. They really need to focus on imporving their own animation than banning certain shows.

The chinese government removing foreign shows so they can air their own propaganda? Am I supposed to be surprised?

It could be worse. They could be showing programmes that convince people to attack the western countries...

I hope this is not new to most?

Well, that would drag others to buy the DVD and Videos.

the good thing is that they banned disney*dances like crazy for china hating disney* but banning pokemon?that should be undone

Not only this movie is ban in China, I heard also that Pokemon is ban throughout the Muslim world. They say the character like Pikachu conflicts their religion. On well........

Though Hong Kong is part of China, they don't bann any Japanese animes or foreign cartoons. But these years they don't air the Pokemon either the English ones or Japanese ones. When they aired the Pokemon here in Hong Kong, the Chinese voice actors are really good, but since the Advance Challenge season started airing the voice actors become sucks especially the voice for May[compared to original JP version], the Advance Challenge season aired episodes in Hong Kong are not many, I remember it stopped when Ash won his second badge in Hoenn.
