Disclaimer: No, I don't own pokemon. If I did flying pokemon would rule all so...
Chapter 1
?Violet City,? a teenage boy said with fondness. He was pretty short, with black hair and almost black eyes. Tied around his neck was a metallic red feather. His name was Robbie. He was mostly a flying pokemon trainer, despite some other types he had with him.
With him was a girl, Tess. She looked about 10 years of age and had brown hair tied a long ponytail, with turquoise eyes. ?I can?t believe I?m finally going to see your hometown!?
Robbie was less excited about it than she was. ?And I get to see you kick another gym leaders butt!? This he wasn?t too excited about either.
You might think Robbie a new trainer for challenging the Violet gym leader, being the closest gym to New Bark Town, but this was not so. He already had seven badges. For reasons only known to Robbie, they had passed up the town completely on their first pass around Johto.
Robbie chuckled and looked at Tess, ?Yeah. Just another gym leader.? He looked up into the sky, ?If only she knew,? he thought. ?I say we go to the gym right now!? she said grabbing his arm and heading in the direction the signs pointed. He tore his arm away, a troubled look on his face and started to walk in the opposite direction. ?M-maybe later.?
Tess raised an eyebrow at the young trainer?s strange response. He usually had too much confidence when fighting gym leaders. But she shrugged it off.
The duo made their way into town, Robbie smiling at all the familiar places. Tess was excited to see the place her ?love? grew up in. She had a crush on Robbie, and he and everybody else they had ever met knew it.
The first thing they saw was the pokemon center, where both of them dropped off their pokemon to rest after the long trek from Blackthorn City.
Next Robbie decided to take her to see some of the better sights in Violet City. Sprout Tower was first on the list. Tess was amazed that despite its swaying from side to side the tall tower stood firm.
After that was the training academy. There they stopped by the visit some of Robbie?s old classmates who had stayed here and taken more advanced classes than Robbie.
?So that?s where you learned how to battle?? Tess questioned him after they had left.
?Some of them,? he responded, his mind obviously in another place. A small smirk was on his face.
Tess looked at him, a look of puzzlement on her face. ?Where?d you learn the rest??
He averted his gaze and gestured ?Oh, here and there.? He decided to walk a few feet in front of her to avoid further questioning.
Tess had always been frustrated how much of Robbie?s past he kept hidden, but she endured it.
Lastly, they went to Robbie?s favorite restaurant. Robbie chomped down a cheeseburger, while Tess stared at him over an un-eaten plate of fries. Finally she pushed her fries aside and confronted him. ?You?re going to tell me everything, NOW!?
He turned to her and responded over a mouth-full of food, ?What is there to tell??
?You can start with why you wouldn?t even set foot in this city before, why you?re freaked about challenging the gym leader and where you got all this mysterious training!?
Robbie groaned, ?Well did you think maybe I don?t want to tell you??
She looked him in eye, trying not to lose her temper. ?Why would you not want to tell me? Robbie, the whole time I?ve been traveling with you, you?ve told me next to nothing about your past! Now, we?ve become really good friends, and still I know nothing. I don?t get what you could be so ashamed of that you can?t tell me. If you want to take our relationship to the next level??
He worked hard to restrain laughter from the comment.
Tess growled, ?Fine, if you don?t want me to kill you, I suggest you get talking buddy!?
A long silence ensued with both of them staring at the other. ?You really want to know?? Robbie said finally breaking the silence. ?Because if you really want to know, I can sum up most lot of your questions with four words. You ready??
Tess nodded vigorously, excitement obviously building up inside her.
Robbie sighed, and with his eyes transfixed on the gym outside, he answered her, ?I?m Falkner's little brother.? Robbie winced, in anticipation of the whirlwind of fury that was sure to come.
He opened one eye to see that Tess was grinning from ear-to-ear. He blinked a few times, obviously not understanding the strange reaction on the part of the girl. She squealed happily and punched the air, ?I can?t believe my boyfriend?s a gym leader!?
Robbie scoffed, ?Okay, first off, where?d you get this crazy notion that I was your boyfriend??
She stood up, sat down on the side of the booth that Robbie was on and scooted closer to him. ?You know we have chemistry.? She stared lovingly at her ?boyfriend? with hearts in her eyes.
Robbie rolled his eyes, knowing there was no changing her mind when she got like this. ?Whatever, but still, I?m not a gym leader. If I can prove myself a worthy trainer then I MIGHT be able to become one. Being his brother is no guarantee.?
Tess latched on his arm ?Well you?re good enough. You?ve only lost a battle like three times.?
Robbie sighed, ?You just don?t get it do you?? He pulled his arm out of her grasp and walked out the door.
Tess got up from the booth trying to follow him, but was stopped by a waiter wanting to be paid. ?Well,? responded irritated, ?I don?t have any money, my friend does so if you?ll just let me?? She was stopped by a finger directing her to the kitchen. Tess sweat-dropped, and begrudgingly began to wash dishes, inwardly cursing Robbie.
*************************
Robbie sat on a park bench, heads in hand, remembering all the times he had with his brother. ?They can?t all be bad right?? he thought out-loud. ?But then why don?t I have any good memories of my brother? Maybe we never had a good time together.? He leaned back and stared up at the sky.
Flashback
Robbie was five years old, sitting on his father?s lap. His father took a metallic red feather from his pocket and gave it to Robbie. ?Robbie, a long time ago, I saw a huge red flying pokemon flying through the sky. To this day that pokemon has never been discovered, but I still search for it. I want you to have this.? He put it around Robbie?s neck and smiled. Robbie laughed and played with his new treasure. ?It?s my most prized possession, so cherish it son.? His father put him down and walked out of the room. A minute later, Falkner walked in. He looked at the feather and chuckled, ?So you got that musty old feather. Who cares? Dad said I get all his pokemon and I get to run the gym. So enjoy your feather! You can sit in your room and play with it while I?m kicking butt in the gym.? He laughed and left Robbie alone.
A few years later, Robbie had found a pokeball, and he was attempting to capture a pidgey, a small bird-like pokemon. No matter how many times he threw the ball, the bird pokemon would just bounce it back with its wing. He kept at it for a half-hour, and the pokemon stayed there, enjoying the game it was playing. Then, out of nowhere, a pidgeot, a large bird-like pokemon and the fully evolved form of pidgey, came down with a devastating wing attack. Falkner came rushing over and quickly caught the pidgey in a pokeball of his own. He laughed at Robbie and walked away with his new pokemon.
End of flashback
Falkner always thought he was better at everything than Robbie, and it stung him after all this time. Robbie stood up from the park bench and made his was to a residential area of Violet City. He approached one house and knocked on the door. It was a small one story house painted brown.
A moment later a boy who looked much like Robbie but a few years older opened the door. A small grin appeared on his face when he saw who the visitor was. ?Welcome home Bro,? he said less than sincere.
End of Chapter 1
There was chapter one. I know it was short, but they will be longer. And the lack of description will also be fixed.
