collecting to play?

Hello all, I am new to this, picked up playing the game again about a year ago and never have collected the cards. I assume there will be a new base set for Sun+Moon so should I wait to start buying cards then or what?!

Nah. You can start collecting to play now, as all 4 of the sets that are on sale now are undoubtedly going to still be tournament legal when the new season change occurs in August/September.
