Ok, so to start off, I'm new to the forums but I plan on staying and being a new active member :classic:

I used to be a Pokemon gamer, I did play Red/Blue/Yellow and all the way up to Ruby/Sapphire but I stopped playing these past 2 years. After seeing alot of Platinum advertisement and things relating to the Pokemon world, I really want to pick it back up but first, I need some tips, advice, and whatever you veterans could assist me in.

To start off, I don't have a DS and that leads to my first question:

-What is the best deals on a DS and what would be the best one to get, ie. newer model, original, Lite, etc.

This leads to my next several questions:

-Should I buy myself a DS just for the purpose of playing Pokemon Diamond/Pearl or Platinum? I know there may be more releases in the future but for now, is this specific game worth the buy of a whole new DS because I doubt I'll play many other games since I have a 360.

-Since I haven't play any of the new gen of Pokemon games, should I pick up Diamond/Pearl or Platinum? Which would benefit me the most and be the most easy to pick up, I don't want to miss out on anything, I love the stories!

-And if whichever one I get, what are some tips that will help me in my progression of the game? Remember, I'm not a novice at the game and the general aspects of Pokemon, just any new items, features, and Pokemon!

Answering these few questions and any more that may come along would help me greatly.

Thank you for your cooperation and you have my gratitude :),

1.Best deals for a DS hmmm... well try ebay im no bargain but try.Gamestop is where I got my DS
AND ALSO MAKE SURE WHERE EVER YOU BUY IT, IT COMES WITH A CHARGER. Without any type of charger thats fit. Yoour screwed

2.Depends on how much your gonna spend on DS. If you do buy pokemon with the DS then pick yourself up a few other games to make buying a Ds worth it: Kingdom Hearts 358/2, pretty badass. Scribblenauts FUN! Dragon Ball Origibs cheap but if you can find it, get it! And what ever else catches your interest

    3. Your choice theyre all the same. Platnium just has a few more perks.

4.Marriland, he has a guide on youtube. And there are many members willing to help you here on pokecommunity! And for evos you wanna see or obtain then search on google how to get them. Or look at marrilands pokedex on his website. It show how to get them

Thanks bro, this actually helps me out alot.

I actually beat Kingdom Hearts 2 on PS2 when it first released before I picked up 360 so playing it on the DS would actually be nice. I really am interested in buying Platinum though so I really want to pick up the DS.

We have a local Gamestop and Wal-Mart so I guess either of these would work?

I have checked out some of the youtube videos on Platinum from Marriland but I probably will just take my time with the game. If everything is reasonable in price, I'm very willing to buy it tomorrow.

Anymore advice would be very much appreciated :)

Eithers ok. Eh they will be selling alot of DSi's because of its relase which is little more exspensive then DS lite but which ever you want. Get some screen protectors too they are life savers for sracthed up screens.

See, I don't want to spend TOO much because I'm not looking for the best of the best DS.

Just a nice, decent DS that is durable and pretty up-to-date.

Just a preference, but I find that Bulbapedia has some very helpful articles about the newest generation, including the new available items, pokemon, moves and trainers as well as differences between the games. I can't link you to specific pages because I don't meet the post number requirement, but I recommend you check it out.

I highly recommend an R4, they cost as much as a normal game bu they allow you to download and play NDS games on your DS

So if I asked Gamestop for the R4, they would know what I'm talking about?

I want the best quality, just not to go overboard since I put most of my money into my 360.

Well if your worried about the price, I think you can get a used DS at gamestop. Just ask to look through the different ones to find one that's in good condition, AND MAKE SURE IT HAS A CHARGER, as someone else said.

And if you are gonna get a used version of diamond/pearl, I think those are cheaper, since a used Platinum is only like 5 bucks less than a new one. I think Platinum's story might have been longer though, or maybe it just seemed that way the first time through to me.....

    Hey
If you want to migrate pokemon then the DS lite will be the best one to get.
I think you should get platinum because it is like emerald with the battle frontier and you can catch palkia and dialga.

Well, what do you mean by migrating Pokemon? By trading?

And I do plan on getting a new Platinum and possibly a new DS if the used copy isn't much cheaper.

you can transfer pokemon from Ruby, Saphire and Emerald by putting the game in the DS GBA slot which the DSi doesn't have

Well, the only way I could do that is if I had my old data which is on my cousin's Ruby which I'll probably never get it back so the extra however much probably wouldn't be worth it, would it?

yea there wouldn't be much point, I would get a DSi then

I just don't see me using my Ruby version since I don't have access to it anyway. So the DSi it is...

You've all been a real big help to me. Hopefully going to pick it up tomorrow :)
