Completing the National/Regional Pokedex

Completed National Dex on Original Gold and completed regional Pokedex on Ruby, after that I just gave up to catch them all, although I developed a breeding method (for generation IV) that requires me just to catch the legendaries.

I've never completed a National Dex (without cheating :3). And the only Regional Dex I've completed is the Sinnoh dex in Diamond and Platinum.

Yeah, I agree with MiniM00se about the cheating bit, as I admit that on my Diamond I cheated just so my Pokedex could say that it was full. But afterwards I felt a bit bad, so I restarted and tried to do it again, but I didn't get far as Platinum came out then. I think that in a way its kinda motivated me to complete it properly without cheating on my HeartGold. Plus I've got other 4th and 3rd Gen games to help me when it comes to version exclusives and starters.
So I'll be following xPsychosocial's advice about the trading thing.

Also
if you want you can also say how far off you are, or which Pokemon you need.

I've completed the National Dex (Without Cheating) In Ruby, Saphire & Leafgreen :3

I don't really bother. It's just too much of a hassle (>.< i'm lazy.)

I only need Latias in order to finish my Diamond National Pokedex and all it took was Diamond, Pearl, Emerald, FireRed and two months of my life :)

But I feel really bad about it cause I just used so many pokemon and now I have all these exp share trained pokemon and crap and it really bugs me. I like to have connections with my pokemon but the need to finish the dex consumed me :(

That's why in Black and White I am only going to catch a pokemon if I love them and never going to use exp share (somehow I have developed a hate for how easy it makes things)

I've completed the natioinal dex. But it takes forever though. My brother had diamond and I had pearl and with the help of AR, friends, and wifi, I caught them all.

I used AR in cases like Darkrai, ho-oh, lugia, Lunatone, and Entei. Darkrai was an event pokemon, so using AR was obvious. Lunatone was a sapphire exclusive, and I didn't want to waste money on a sapphire version. Entei required me to start over in FR, and I didn't want to do that again. But about 95% of my pokes I did not cheat for. (Now that HGSS came out)

I've never completed a pokedex, mainly becuase I don't have any events, and in Ruby/ Sapphire I can't do sky pillar. Apart from event pokemon though, I'm only about 10 off the Sapphire regional dex, which (for me) is really good. :)

I caught 148 in Blue 145 in Red, 142 in Yellow, 248 in Gold, 250 in Silver, 251 in Crystal, 386 in Ruby, Regional in Sapphire and Emerald, 240 in FR/LG, Regional in Diamond and 493 in Platinum. Without cheating, might I add, minus the Mew Glitch. And in Crystal, the Celebi Egg Trick.
I had to choose in Gen III, which game to trade to. Living in New York, I was at Bryant Park, so I got events there and at Toys 'R' Us. I'm trading to SS now.

Mewtwo152: Wow, that is morealess every single Pokemon in every game, right? And I thought that doing it in one game was good...
Looking at the guide I've got for HeartGold and Platinum, I think that it will take me at least a year or so, as I don't play Pokemon solidly, but I do a bit here and here.
The hardest thing for me to do, is to get all the legendaries from other games, like Rayquaza and such, as I don't mind getting events, but the Pokemon from other games are really hard for me to get and catch.

Before I started a new game in SS I'd completed the Johto Dex and was about 60 from the nat Dex, all I need were Hoenn Pokemon which I couldn't be bothered to trade across. In Emerald before a new game I had 381 in my Nat Dex which I need Feebas, Milotic, Celebi, Jirachi and Deoxys.
My Pearl I completed the Sinnoh Dx and had 450 on my nat dex. On Silver I only had about 150 but I couldn't trade sadly.

I have only completed the Pokedex in Emerald and Diamond. My cousion helped me a lot for Emerald, and then Diamond was easy once you got all items you needed for evos.

I am somewhat close to finishing HG,but still have a while to go. Once I get all the legendaries out of the way,it should be easy. I am currently at 247 pokemon. If I had kept Diamond and not sold I may have finished by now.

I have caught all 151 on pokemon Yellow, Red and Crystal.

I have only completed the National pokedex on pokemon Emerald, and I kinda cheated on Diamond.

Nah, I've never completed the Pokedex on any game. That's someone else's dream, not mine. (; I only catch the Pokemon I'll use or potentially use. Or the Pokemon I can nickname funnily.

Well look at all the time it's taken. 12 years! Plus my Red, Gold and Silver files got erased, so I'm going back through my repaired Silver. Thus the incomplete entries are rough estimates. And I lost my Yellow in Connecticut. I know they were pretty darned close, though. And most of them weren't done until the FR/LG days, when I was trying to get complete Pokedexes on all my games. And I lost my Ruby and thus all my events in 2007. I've repurchased it, and gotten to 383, since restarting Colosseum.

I've entered a challenge now to motivate me the catch 'em all challenge, so hopefully I can get a bit more done using it. However most of the time I'm quite busy, so I don't get as much as I hope done. My current Pokedex count is 53, but I haven't completed the game yet (before Blue) so what I'm planning to do is beat Blue, and then try to complete the Pokedex without legendaries and that, beat Red and then finish it off by catching the harder ones.
Kind of a complex plan, I know, but in my head it works.

I completed it back in Red version
It just takes a lot of patience and trading,
It helps if you own the other games in the series. eg/ Blue and Yellow.

I almost completed the old Gold version aswell, was about 10 pokemon short, when the battery system in the game died and left it unable to hold a save file anymore.

That was an upsetting day, not only was I that close, I also had a Shiny Sudowoodo and Noctowl. Only 2 shineys I have ever legitamatly seen, apart from Red Garados
